What's wrong with my new alternator?
 

So I decide to get my alternator replaced per my warranty today. I noticed that while I was idling, the BRAKE and battery light were dimly lit. Wtf! Needless to say, I was a little p*ssed off to see that. If I apply the gas a teeny bit, it goes away. If I turn on even the rear defroster it comes on. The car feels fine, starts fine, and etc. So why would this happen? Is this a defective alternator?

I've already called up my shop and left them a message. But in the interim, what's the deal?

maybe the voltage is low they forgot to adjust the volatge or need a new battery? could be defective alternator. i had mine replaced a year ago and it works fine since day one. by the way i had mine done at pepboys came with life time warranty what brand is yours.

Well I found out that the alternator isn't synching with the RPMs, basically. So it's not working at full charge when the car is below ~750RPMs. I forgot what my mechanic said, but it was something along the lines of the voltage regulator being set too high. So if the engine is turning at over 750RPMs, it'll be at 100% charge. But if it's below, it dips a little bit.

My altenator kicked the bucket last weekend... :buttkick:

My dash was going in and out and I was less than two miles from my friends house... I was praying just to make it there and I got busted for speeding...

I don't live upstate anymore and I did not notice they reduce the speed on one road... It used to be 55mph and they lowered it to 40mph for a certain stretch.

I got busted for 63mph in a 40mph zone. I honestly had no clue how fast I was actually going thanks to my dash... But I knew I was around 60mph and I thought I was safe... Nope... They reduced the damn speed. :nupe500:

After I got pulled over the car would not restart, I had to sit in the damn cold (30 deg) while I waited for my friend to show up and jump the car so I could make it to his house and keep it there.
