PA State Inspections & Codes P0455, P1448
Hi,
I am new in PA and needs to get an inspection sticker.
In the meantime, my car is throwing an SES light. I took it to Autozone and retrieved the following 5th Gen specific-codes:
P0455 - EVAP Control System Gross Leak
P1448 - EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve Open
Now, I am assuming these would fail the emissions. I took it to my mechanic who scanned the codes and indicated that I need to change the
"vent solenoid sensor"
The cost for my inspection would be:
Vent Solenoid Sensor: $140
One passenger Tire: $100
Inspections: 70
Total cost = about 330
Questions:
(1) What is this "vent solenoid sensor"? Is it in anyway related to the codes
(2) Can I get the front tires cheaper...I think it would be adviceable to change both instead of one.
(3) Is it possible to do the inspections cheaper...or even when the codes are cleared ?
I appreciate any urgent help as I can't continue to drive without inspections stickers.
Sincerely, MN

2. YES, and better tires also, www.tirerack.com ( + UPS will be at your door with you 2 new tires the next day) Only because Tire Racks depot is in Wilm Del. South down 95 from Philly.
3. Yes, Inspection is cheep and most places will do it for free if you tell them some other place like your dealer will do it for free. (Coupon) They MUST charge you for the stickers.
Most dealers will do a PA inspection for free to get your business, Just remember to say No to ANY and ALL not required services...Engine flush....blah blah blah...that just sell ups to make the dealer money.
This is who I deal with and they know not to rip me off.

I think I have had more warrenty work done for free.( Both front full HID's housings and everything replaced Lights, Whole new front bumper, they drilled it and I said NOT too, Both front Wheel bearings, and Brakes & Rotors, ect) The Service guys Race and Mod also so they give you no crap about aftermarket parts...just look at my list below
The Parts Dept is great also, They give me dealer cost +10% and thats cheep.
This dealler is really good and fair: (Closer to you out 76 from the city)

P.S. PA Emissions is the big pain in the A$$, because the price is fixed by the State.
