Anyone dropped with 04' 350z 18's...what combo are you running?
 

This question is for anyone running 04' 350z 18's with a 35 mm offset...or anyone else running a 18x8.5 wheel with a 35 mm offset. I just put on my 350z 18's and wrapped them in 245/45 tires and from what I've read, I've seen people running 235 40's and other smaller combos with there car dropped. So my question is for anyone with the above mentioned wheels and tire size on there 5th gen....""What are you dropped on and do you have any rubbing issues???""...my front wheel doesnot tuck in the fender and the rears barely tuck under...they are pushed about pretty wide, which I actually like because it gives a nice looking stance to the max. btw I did browse through the official suspension thread but I'm trying to get imput from anyone with the combo.

with that size of tire, you will rub in the rear with any drop. You can try to mitigate the rubbing by trimming/dremeling down the little inside lip at the rear section of the rear fenderwell (where the bumper meets the upper fender, feel inside with your fingers and you'll see what I mean.

245/40/18 would have been a better size and much less likely to rub.....

Yea, I will definitely try that the next time I get a chance. Do you think the front will rub as well? I know the back always sits lower on our cars (especially with 2 12's in the back)...It's probably in my best interest not to do an aggressive drop anyway due to to the nasty roads where I live, even though deep down I'd love to be slammed :tear:

I run an 18x8 wheel with 30 offset and 235/40s and have had no rubbing problems in the front whatsoever, even when autocrossing.

You should be ok up front unless you really slam it.

At this point, I'd suggest going with a mild drop like Maxspeed, which sits a bit higher in the back compared to Eibach/H-Tech/H&R, and will minimize rubbing, especially with all that junk in the trunk...

i had those same rims with 245/45 and it rub in all over. My car its dropped with maxspeeds. Changed tires to 235/40 and it went away.

was it the back that rubbed or did the front rub too?

Plus that is the correct plus sizing tire size. I wonder if it will rub after doing the beam recentering? :confused:

Thanx guys...basically any way you cut it, i have too big a tire for an aggressive drop unless i can do some modifications to the fender well as you have mentioned irish :frown: think that sux is i just bought the tires about 3 weeks ago, still brand spankin' new

shops will roll both your rear fenders for $50 or less or you can do it yourself ghetto style.

I run 19x8.5 with a 1.7 drop on the rear, 35mm offset and 235 35 19 and its nowhere near rubbing, I could run 245 35 19 easily

Is the rolling of fenders along the same lines (or ultimate same effect) as what irish said regarding the dremel. Basically, rolling the fender "lip" up and in to provide more clearance for the tire to tuck inside the wheel well?? If i was to do this on my own what would be the best way to roll that lip? Hey everyone... I'm kinda new to this site and i just bought my car, so i was wondering a couple of things...

How about if i don't drop my max at all and keep it at the stock height... Will the 245/45/18's fit without rubbing??? I'm asking because i was thinking of that size tire for my 03 max.

Also, what is a safe rim offset for my max??? I like the deep dish look, but i don't want to do any damage...

Well thats what I have right now is the 245/45/18's with a 35mm offset without drop on my 2002...and they don't rub, if you want to see what that size looks like take a look at my sig...offset will depend on what tire size you are running mine are 35mm and they are basically flush with the outside of the fenders

I am running 245/40's on 18x8's with a 35mm offset. With H&R's 1.5" front and 1.3" rear...

No Rubbing front or rear not even under agressive driving

yeah you roll that pesky ridge in the rear upwards, smoothing it out and giving more space for clearance when the spring/shock compress.


The best way is just wish a baseball bat. apply even pressure pushing the lip up.. im sure its more complicated than that, i havent tried it. I suck at things like that so i'd prob take it somewhere for 40 ucks and have them use a professional roller tool
