Shouldn't the Transmission level be consistent?
 

I can't seem to get a consistent reading on the level of my transmission fluid. I follow the owners manual, start car (after it's been sitting overnight), let it warm up to operating temps, about 5-10 minutes, then shift thru all the gears, return to P, let the engine idle and check the dipstick. I read the "cold" reading and it gives a reading of slightly over the low mark. Ok, so I think maybe I'm a little on the low side. Then I take it out for a drive, about 10-15minutes worth, come back, and check, this time it's about 85% on the "hot" side. After 1/2 day of running errands, it reads over the high mark on the "hot" side stating there's too much fluid. Is it supposed to fluctuate so much? 10-15 minutes of driving time too long? I know the manual states at least 5 minutes.

How does everyone else do their reading? On the hot or cold side?

I climb under my car, open the fill hole, stick my finger in making sure its full, close the fill hole, sit back and smile at my 5-speed. :D

Ahhhh,, you are checking it on LEVEL ground right. You are not on a hill are you? I just have to ask...

I made sure it was leveled, I took my 6 foot level to see how much I needed to jack up the rear on ramps to level the car of, anal? Very much so!

You guys with the 5 and 6 speeds, I hope it's just your finger you're really STICKING in there. :D

Yes, that's why you don't check it when you've been driving all day.
