Lug/Hub question
A friend of mine who has a 2003 maxima recently had a flat tire.
While we were able to get the tire off and fixed, we found he had a lug nut that was cross threaded. We used a breaker bar to break off the lug bolt that comes out through the hub. Question: How long can we wait until we put in a new bolt in there? Are there any problems he may experience? He is currently driving on 4 out of the 5 lugs torqued correctly... Appreciate any input. |
He really should get a new stud asap...but if he babies it i don't see there being a huge problem.

You can drive it for weeks without any issues. ( I did )
As long as your have your other (4) lugs tight. I stopped by NAPA got a new stud and lug one day and the whole job takes less than an hour if you know what you are doing. Instructions: Remove wheel Remove Brake caliper Bang out old broken stud Insert new stud *(Tighten down so it seats correctly) Put your caliper back on. Put your tire back on, Put lugs back on and drive around the block. If everything is ok sit back and have a beer. |
