0-60, quarter mile, and top speed.

i have an apex'i muffler, stillen y-pipe, and stillen cone intake. i don't know about 0-60 or quarter, but my top speed is about 127mph. car does well until it hits about 120, then it CRAWLS slowly from that point on. i know the auto's have rev limiters and my tach show i have at least 1k-1.5k before redline.

who's got the fastest in any of the three categories? and what mods got them there? i wanna know what i need to do w/ my auto. (i'm especially curious what speeds u can get w/ a supercharger).

I can tell you that I've taken down a 2000 Mustang GT and they do low to mid 14's in the 1/4 mile and 0-60 in mid to high 5 seconds. Wait till I get my alcohol/H2O intake fogger (will cool my intake air by some 70 degrees F) and then I should get some really good times. I will be taking her to the track this fall once we get over this 97 degree plus weather here in Texas, but until then all I can make is an educated guess which would be low 14's 1/4 mile time (possibly high 13's) but this is only a guess based on my road kills.

Re: Mr. Burner???

Zach's best ET is 15.5, which is pretty good for a naturally aspirated Maxima. There a few others NA autos ahead of that though. I hope to break my 15.47 at Maxus, with my new ram air OSCAI. I hope it's not blazing hot!

Re: No EXACT Times Yet But . . .

Damn your car is quick! 1/4 mile times probably don't do your car justice. From a roll or highway speeds must be so sweet!! If you took that SuperCharged badge off you car would be the ultimate 2K+ sleeper....now you could really have fun then.

well i'm calling an unfair comparison here...i run consistant 15.5's with my heavy *** stock 17" wheels with full interior (minus subs minus spare tire) and in over 90 degree weather...so far all of the 5spd max's i have ran with upto 100 have been almost even which makes me think once it cools down i should be hitting very very low 15s if not high 14s (with my current mods)...so i have convinced myself that i am the fastest N/A auto max...but that is just in theory i guess...gotta wait a few months to prove it (and by then, hopefully i'll have my supra instead of my max so someone else will have to prove it to you...)

Fair enough. All the other stuff on your car doesn't help either. (subs, aero kit, etc.) Hopefully you'll keep your Maxima. I hate to see people go to the dark side.

On 2nd thought... I bet Kev's former car was possibly the fastest NA 5th gen Maxima. CAI + VB upgrade + Y pipe + stickers = fast NA 5th gen. He doesn't have timeslips, but timeslips are not required to have a fast car.

Now he's one of the slowest SC auto's. hahhahahahah.

Well by my count you have only ran 15.5 ONCE and kev, mingo and paul are all as fast if not faster. All you have is cai, y pipe, and catback. Nothing too amazing and not enough to hit 14's IMO but my 50 buck offer still stands.........

i made sure the engine was able to cool down, i would turn off the ignitions, leave the car in neutral and push it all by myself until i was at the light, then i'de start the car when the ppl ahead of me have already gone. made sure i went around the burn out box (to avoid the liquid on the ground) and stuff like that, no mods tho, no octane booster, no sneak peak, and made sure i warmed up my tire while iw as waiting. (burn outs outside of the burnout box)

hahhaa i dont' care to mention that because alot of ppl know that already.. imo i didn't shave all that much weight, the heavies thing was prolly the passenger seat, the back seats were light, but i'm not going to take out the passenger seat again, it'll trigger the airbag seonsor, it makes it think something is broken.. i'm going to the track sometime this summer, i don't expect better times with these new rims. but if i had the same stock rims, i most definately would expect better times because of the vb mod. i want to see the time ti actualy saves. if any at all.

Paul bows to Mingo. I remember those pictures. Awesome! They should be in posts from a year ago. Funny thing, my car seems to run faster warm than cold. Have you tried that? Your ET's may even drop further.

Butt track says low 14's to mid/high 13's

Butt dyno says 270-300 whp and 230-240 torque

Butt numbers may differ from real world results. Please stay tuned for those.

My shop manager explained it to me this way: He said that it uses a 70 percent to 30 percent alcohol/H2O mixture that is injected into to the intake tube at around 300 psi (very fine mist) and it supposedly cools the intake air by some 70 degrees F thereby generating some 30-40 extra FWHP. This is all he has heard so he has one ordered and as soon as he gets it in he is going to try it out on his turboed Ford Focus to see how it works. If all goes well he will order several in and begin the installs on other people's cars. If it does what he claims he has heard it does I will definitely be getting one for my car. Later.

I used water/alcohol injection on my last car, a non intercooled supercharged Jetta VR6 (This system is very similar to that used on the Maxima and made by Stillen.)
There are a few different kits out there. I used the cheapest which is made by Spearco. The best and most expensive is made by ERL in England and is tradenamed "Aquamist".

With the cheap Spearco unit (I paid about $150 new, but I understand they have come up somewhat in price), I picked up about 25 whp. I also stopped all detonation in hot weather. It worked like a champ and I made 260 whp/230 ft lb with it. I also ran a small shot (25 shot) of nitrous in addition and it worked flawlessly with the water injection as well and took the power up to 301 whp/281 ft lb.

I never ran the car at the track when it was all completed. But, a friend of mine with the IDENTICAL setup (but he doesnt have nitrous) has, who dynoed within 2 hp of my car on the same dyno, and he ran a 13.3@107 on slicks.

So, water injection works, and it works best on non intercooled cars. Try fooling around with the water/alcohol concentrations and see waht works best. I actually liked running a 50/50 mix of water/methanol, but only because I had a cheap and convenient source for it.

Oh that has to be my GLE. Custom 4 wheel drive based on a shorted Skyline platform. A Fuji****u Nitrus on a g32 Nakashima supercharger. 0-60 around 5 seconds and quarter in just over 13seconds. Corners about .92g.

Oh wait. Sorry, I was daydreaming. What was the questions?
