Just bought a set of SO-3's from TireRack (ask for Dallas - cool guy). But I noticed they've got a great price on the SO-2's, $125 vs $190 for 225/55/16's. I like my stock 16" rims and it seems that 225/55/16 is a more common size than the stock 215/55/16 for 16" rims just based on how many more choices they have, so I've decided to plus size.
Had a couple of questions - what's the difference between these two Potenza's other than the price? As far as I can tell the SO3's may last a bit longer but I don't see any other advantage to justify the $65 price difference. Anybody try either of these two? Also will there be any noticeable lag in acceleration (I know handling and coernering will be a better!) with the slightly larger size on the stock 16" rims (about 7/16" larger diameter)? Or should I just stick with the stock 215/55/16 size? I'd really appreciate any input as soon as possible because if I'm going to change my order I've got to do it quickly before they ship. |
i have the s02 not the pole position because they don't offer it in my size (235/40/zr-18) well not teh s-02 btu they do offer the pole position on the new s03.. i love these tires, they are very grippy, i've only slid out once, and it was semi-intentional, i was testing out the rsb when i got it. i hit a 90 degree turn at around 50 (full acceleration) and the rear end slid out just a wee-bit. i would think the s03's are better since they are the replacements for the s02, the tread pattern is very different between the two, and i don't kow why the s03 is only a yr rated tire as opposed to the zr rated s02.
all i gotta say is excellent choice on tires, i got mine through matthel (turbo95max) |
