Hey folks!
I am the newest member here on this board and I was wondering if anyone can help me out.

I'm sorry I don't own a Maxima but I do respect its performance and capabilities.

I own a 98 Integra Type R and a good friend of mine owns a 2000 Max Se. We are planning on going to Pocono Raceway this weekend but we need to change the brake fluid on his car. Last time he boiled his fluid and had to quit early because he had no brakes.

Before we go this weekend, we want to change/replace his fluid. I know ATE Blue is good stuff and so is Ford HD brake fluid. What do you guys recommend? Also How do we do it? I am unfamiliar with the Max setup so can someone point me in the right direction where I could find detailed instructions on how to change/replace the brake fluid in a 2000 Max Se?
I appreciate your time folks!!

fluid

motul seems to be the fluid of choice if your going to DOT5 (not compatible with dot 3&4). Speed bleeders help also at (www.speedbleeder.com or www.russellperformance.com). How did he boil the brakes? Was he using dot3?

Re: fluid

He was using stock fluid with stock pads and stock everything else. Upon entering the turn into the road course, speeds were droppping from 110 to 40 mph ... hence the boiled fluid.

Can anyone help us out here? I need some detailed procedures as well because my friend is a complete tool when it comes to cars. (especially his)

Thanks

You can check on this site http://www.greghome.com/ for some brake work stuff. I know there is some stuff about the Speed Bleeders there and maybe more. That write-ups are for 4th Gens but should be identical as the 5th Gens.

mdeal - thanks for your help.

Is foozed on this board? If so, do you know how to do it?
I heard you were a Nissan Wizzard!

Nick248 - who thinks nobody here knows how to replace the brake fluid in their max.

I would say if you know how to bleed brakes on one car, then you should know how to do it on any car. I think right rear, right front, left rear left front is the order. But it might not. I forget. I'm also assuming you know how to bleed brakes already, hence you should know how to bleed them on the max. But then I could be very wrong here. Pep Boys may have a brake bleed kit that they let people barrow with a pump and hoses.
