Hey all,

I have an 01 Anniversary edition. When I turn on my AC a nasty horrible foul smell comes out for about 2-3 minutes. Then it smells ok an dkicks out some nice cool air. would anybody happen to know why? does anybody else experience this? if so, what are the recommendations for resolving this issue.

Thanks
Joe

sounds like mold....someone else should know how to fix this.

I believe many of us acutally have this problem. My 2001 SE has the same problem. Anyone know if there is an acutal fix for this, or is it "normal"?

It sure is a funky smell, though!

The smell you are smelling is probably mildew that has accumulated in the A/C duct. You can resolve this by spraying Lysol in there to kill the mildew or use the "fresh air" setting on your A/C. I'm assuming that you're using the "Recirc" setting. If so, this is more than likely the problem.

Isn't there a sticky thread on this? I have the same problem on my '00 gle. I have 18K miles. How many miles do you guys have?

get some lysol cleaner spray and spray it in the vents in the front of the car underneath the windshield outside. Run the system full blast with it set to fresh air. That should take care of it. Just don't get the lysol on the painted portion of your car....
