HID Ballast Location Pic's
Can someone post pics of where they found a place to mount the ballast's. I'm going with the twin beam set-up so that's four ballast's and while I've installed them in my other car's, I can't seem to find a place for them on my
2000 Max. Thanks in advance, Bill |
Why 4 ballasts? Get a proper bi-xenon kit if you must.
So you're not capable of finding a place for them yourself? :rotz:
he's just looking for ideas man, chill out.. anyway.. yeah, i did it.. and i have the pics on my computer at home, so i'll post them up when i get home later.. but n3985 is right, it is less hassle to go with a bi-xenon kit that only has 2 ballasts total.. although i don't see any disadvantage to having 4 ballasts other than mounting space

no problem.. i was looking for the exact same help when i was putting mine in, so i know how it is.. lol
MAN get a proper Bi-Xenon Kit....that has ONLY 2 BALLASTS......you shouldnt need four ballasts
^ Sheesh, maybe he wants 4 ballasts...? HID highs and lows? I'm glad to see some good shots of ballast mounting locations, because I've often wondered the same question.
wyche89,,,, thanks for the pics

lmao! WANTS 4 BALLASTS for ONE SET OF HID's....thats OVERKILL, and it takes up SPACE... YOU DONT NEED Four Ballasts FOR ONE SET OF HID's....that means if the high beams HAVE THEIR OWN LIGHT...because they are HID they are going to take a second or two to even warm up...at that point using the high beam to flash some one or what ever the case may be WILL BECOME pointless

personally, i would advise against getting a bi-xenon kit.. i don't know how the 2 ballast kits operate, but as far as the 4 ballasts kits, you're turning on one light and turning off another.. and i'm so worried about blowing my ballasts/bulbs, i don't even use them to flash people or hardly at all.. as a matter of fact, one night i was putting my turn signal on and accidentally pulled the lever for the high beams for a second.. and when i got home, my one light was out.. it turned out to be a blown ballast, which will be replaced under warranty, but still... i didn't like that.. basically my point is i hardly use my high beams and i'm upset that i spent $140 extra for something i dont even use
^ Very true. Some people hardly use theirs, while others do every day. I usually don't need to use mine, since I still live in the city. But I have Ebay projectors retro'ed with Maxima E55 bi-xenon projectors, so when I flash people it's just a solenoid moving. And I'm using Matshu****a ballasts, which haven't failed me yet! *knock on wood*

If you have H.I.D. low beams and also have H.I.D. fog lights, wouldn't you have four ballasts?
^ Yes, but the ballasts for your fogs would most likely be mounted within a foot or so of the fog lights...
I have my fog light ballasts set up 1 foot left of the fog light on the driver side against the plastic gripping tight..dont know if that helps at all but if you take the front bumper off there is a spot right against the hard plastic
Flashing other drivers frequently is equivalent to turning on your HID's and turnning them off immediately without giving them the chance to warm up. This is something that is not recommended if you have HID lights. Remember the service life of HID bulbs are measured in the number if ignitions.
