tranny swap Q

I think my tranny is on the way out. Starting to whine very loud on the downshifts. Question is if I find a replacement, how many hours labor is a shop going to soak me for? Assuming they know what they are doing and run into no problems.

Not sure, but two years ago, I got the transmission in the 4th gen I used to have swapped for $300 (this was in London, ON so fairly close to you). Call around.

Are you sure you really need it though? Mine whines a bit if I brake with the engine in 2nd gear. I got the car used, so not sure how normal it is. It still shifts great and the bearings make no noise, so I'm not worrying about it yet.

I'm not 100% sure it needs a new one, I may just need the pilot bearing. Going to get diagnosed on Friday morning.
