Headlight / Fog Wiring Harness?

I have a 2002 Maxima SE 6MT but someone decided to hack up the headlight wiring and the fog wiring.

I e-mailed Courtesy Parts and they said this wiring harness is something along the lines of 650$.

Does anyone have a source for namely these harness parts or a junkyard that might have a harness I can grab parts from? I can't imagine this is the only way to bring things back near factory. The headlights are some nasty off-ebay situation.

I did some Googling and checked eBay, but didn't find much.

Thanks in advance.

FOR THE FOGS....your best bet is finding the harnesses in a junkyard and splicing them back in....

as far as the headlight harnesses...i know courtesyparts.com USED to sell the 2k2-2k3 headlight wiring.....because its the same wiring i purchased from Dave B when i did my 2k2 - 2k3 headlight retrofit

give dave b a call for the headlight wiring........fogs, your gonna have to try your luck

This would the wiring from the harness to the headlight connection right? I'm basically going to buy a pair of those replacement OEM HID headlights off ebay for 500$ and I need the connections from the wiring harness to those. The harnesses were cut and spliced all to hell.. :) Namely eBay item - 180273808276 or similar.

Also, any idea if the 2001 Fog kit is the same as the 02-03? If so, I could get that and it comes with the wiring, I could just butt connector the fog light wiring on to the existing wires.

Thanks for the heads up.

damn, lol........im having a hard time figuring out which part of the headlight harness is hacked to hell....

now as far as the 01 fogs..........SIMPLY PUT.....they WONT FIT, in the 02-03 bumper...but as far as the wiring is concerned, I BELIEVE the fog wiring itself is all the same for all the 5th gens (00-03)

but if you can get but connector to work, then go for it

Could you take a pic or something of the hacked headlights so i can better understand what ya mean:D

My bad. What happened was they lopped off the wiring harness ends (both left and right headlight connector) that plug into the headlights from the car. So basically if I buy those new OEM headlights, I won't have any way to connect them to the car.

They then wired in these crappy 'euro style halo' pieces of crap. I'd take a photo but all it would be is a maze of wires and butt connectors. Hopefully my description is a little better than it was. Basically I have no way to plug the factory headlights into the car because the connectors were cut off the vehicle.

lol....go ahead and snap a shot any way bro....it couldnt hurt

also I SEE WHAT YOUR SAYING NOW...and i know for a fact that you can get the 2k2 headlight wiring harnesses FROM DAVE B

do you know who he is?

if not ill get you his number, ask for him specifically.....and be sure to state that your a maxima.org member

droobie 08-11-2008 06:12 PM

Oh yeah I know Dave B. I bought my 350Z clutch kit from him. :)

I'll see about getting some photos together during the daylight too.

Nice, looks like what I need there. Not sure why his wires are all yellow, that's gotta be confusing as hell. :)

Guess that means that part exists at least. One problem down one to go. Thanks for the heads up. Heck of a lot better answer than Courtesy Parts had, they said 24078 would be needed which is an expensive complete wiring harness.

Lontar1 08-11-2008 06:59 PM

the wire harness for the 02-03 HIds' are yellow. I bought them from DaveB give him a call. they should be like $35 as for the fogs ask him and go to a junkyard.....

to be honest, they probably didnt even know what the hell you were talking about....lol

but yea those wires were made yellow like that...mine where the same color.... (dont ask me why, thank nissan for such ingenious thinking,)

They knew enough to suggest a 640$ wiring harness.. heh. I think it's also because I needed the one for the Fogs too or that they just don't index that replacement harness you guys have.

Odds are the wiring harnesses you guys got came out because of too many people ripping off the headlights from the vehicle. Easier to replace the harness ends than replace the entire harness. From what I read it can cost an easy 1000-1200$ for the full harness including install. It has other engine control connections on it which require taking apart a large part of the vehicle.

Strange, do they have any key or color mark on them to match to? I don't think any of the wiring on my vehicle is yellow but will look tomorrow. Test Light will be my buddy I suspect.

AHHHH, your probably right.....they were probably quoting you the ENTIRE WIRING HARNESS....and not just for the headlights

but as far as KEY COLOR MARKS..........HA!!!! .......none what so ever, they are all yellow....u make up the color codes as you go along....just be sure they match when you plug them in, the easy one is the highbeam and the turn signal

droobie 08-11-2008 08:09 PM

If I recall, the ends for the wiring are still there, just cut really short, so I might actually be ok. Not sure about the passenger side, but I'm pretty sure I saw it on the driver side.

Did anyone map the connector itself anywhere so you know what pin goes to what?

I emailed Dave B too about the harnesses too since I had his email handy.

hi-tek22 08-11-2008 08:43 PM

the only wiring or write ups i know about are for the 00-01 retrofits....

sorry i couldnt be of any help in that department

CMax03 08-12-2008 09:21 PM

The Foglight harness is the same on 00-03 Maximas, the foglights themselves are different but the connectors are all compatible...What parts are you actually trying to get? I would fix it (Headlights) with a wrecked 02-03 Max! I totally against chopping up Chassis harness' for that same reason. If I modded something it would only involve splicing into not chopping to crap! And all my work is always in wire looms, this keeps it organized and very much stock looking.

droobie 08-12-2008 09:25 PM

The original owner lopped off the ends of the fog light wires and of the headlight wiring. I basically need the vehicle side connectors for the entire headlamp assemblies (left and right) and for the fogs. Then I'd buy new headlight assms and fogs and plug them in.

I have the bare wires there, just no connectors and I'm trying to bring things back the way they were when the vehicle was made. So basically I just need a little bit of cable to hopefully reach the lights (18 inches maybe) and the connectors on the end.

Hope that clears it up.

search the wrecking yards....there's quite alot of wrecked 02-03 for the Hid harness and 00-03 for the fogs

droobie 08-12-2008 11:18 PM

I haven't had much luck here, but I might email some of these junkyards online and see what I can find.

Thanks for the heads up. At least I know what years I'm looking for.

You should have went 2 one and let them use their watts line that connect all junk yards for searched parts. (Houston is like that, don't know about your local area)

nsnrider 08-15-2008 09:29 PM

get yourself a voltmeter to trace the wires. if you don't know how to use one, then download yourself a factory service manual and look in the electical schematics to trace the wire colors.

droobie 08-15-2008 09:32 PM

A local place has 2 rolled over 2002 maximas.. I think we might have this problem solved. If all goes well I can get the lights from them too, saves me some money compared to 500$.

The guy who did my body work from when the deer ran into the side last month made some calls for me.

I know how to use a Voltmeter by the way. I'm an electronics tech and a Ham Operator. I just figured maybe someone had a pinout for the connector itself. :)

I appreciate all the help, we'll see if I can get a photo out there once I get this nonsense all done. I just got new tail lights the other day. I'll get those installed and hopefully the trunk leak will go away.

I'm also waiting for my rubber/plastic Cargo Liner. The cardboard thing is warped to hell because of the water getting in the trunk too many times. That's a 300$ part, the rubber/plastic cargo liner was 100$ and is made much better.

hi-tek22 08-15-2008 11:42 PM

^^keep us posted bro, hope it all works out for ya :)

bump an old thread. I have an 03 Maxima that was wired up with the 00-01 lights after an accident. I bought the 2K3 HID headlights but need to find the connector for these lights.

Can someone tell me what the name of this connector is and where can i purchase it. is it a Nissan only connector? Its frustrating having HIDs sitting in a box and not on my car... smh

Use the search feature.

droobie 05-18-2010 07:32 AM

I used a junkyard to get mine. Many junkyards do not cut pigtails and wiring off the cars when they part them, so I only paid 10 bucks for the headlight set and the fog light set.

Believe me, I've search quite some time for an answer. Thanks for the tip on the junkyard, but if i didn't find it there I was looking for a part number or a specific name for the male connector.

droobie 05-18-2010 01:16 PM

Unfortunately I don't know of a specific part number, but your Nissan dealer should since it's not uncommon for the wiring pigtails to get destroyed when someone steals the headlights. Headlight thefts were rather common on the 2002-2003 Maximas.

They basically have a 'repair pigtail', which you can crimp on using butt connectors. Some people have used them to convert 2000-2001 models to the HID setup for 2002-2003. The junkyard, of course, is likely to be much cheaper.
