ok my wheel bear ring is worn out on the drivers side so instead of changing it my dad thought it will be better to install the whole spindle off a junk yard. so far we tried 2 spindles off 2 different yards but neither fits, the axel goes half way in the hub and gets stuck we tried hammering but it won't even move but the same axle fit the old hub like butter, we also tried a new axle off my local foreign auto parts store its for the 2001 maxima not the 20th AE and it was still the same goes half way through the new (well the ones off the junk yard) and slips in fine with the old hub, why? the first spindle was off a 2003 maxima the second was off a 2001 my car is a 2001 20th ae

IIRC, spindles are the same for 5 gen and 5.5 gen. It shouldn't matter if its an auto or standard either. Are you working on the right side or left? I can check for you when i get to work tomorrow if no one else chimes in.

I'm sure I am not the only one who has had to replace their wheel bearings on their Maximas. Spend the money now-to save time(headaches) later. Used Maxima bearings are just that. They too, will go bad. IMHO.

Did you remove the inner snap ring?
