Just got my H&R's and Illuminas!

I put my car in the shop last night to get my H&R's and Illuminas installed, it took them quite a while and they still never finished. I have to pick it up at noon today. He showed me that one of the illuminas was I guess missing a bushing, idk? He said when the car gets put down the bushing should go back up the strut and something is wrong with mine. He told me to try to buy them from NAPA or something.

Any thoughts?

Just talk to pep boys and they said the Stealership is the only place that has the bushing I need, Its gonna run me $45 for that one bushing. 30 Minutes after I told them ok...I thought about it, and why cant they use one of my factory bushings?

Don't know for the life of me why people go lower, There messing up there car...

roggeezy Sep 26, 2008 09:44 PM

You can prolly use your factory bushings on your replacement shocks....

what bushing are you speaking of...On the rear struts? if so just tighten it up till you bottom out it will be ok!

It was front passenger side...

its all done and its pretty awesome! I feel lower, feels nicer, ride is great and it's nice to know that I can adjust the struts...im doin some work tomorrow and going to see what it feels like on other settings. Pretty happy!

Dislike: I feel that the front could be a little lower, mainly because I have two 12's in the back and the back sits right above the wheel and it looks great. The front would look good in the same position as the back

Many people don't drop the back with the H&R's for that very reason you mentioned there(sagging in the back). Just dropping the front with the H&R's seems to be perfect, especially if you have subs in the back.

So leave stock springs in the back??

This is the main thing I dislike about my H&R springs...and I think the same goes for just about anyone else that has them...

maxximaa Sep 27, 2008 04:43 PM

i bought the whole she-bang for my car, so pretty much out with the old, in with the new(except 6 strut mount bolts:D). however, my springs are eibach.

i'm gonna install them myself tho(hopefully next weekend) :o

as for the setting, what number do you people set them at?

1 is stiff(bouncy)? 5 is soft(less bouncy)?

sorry for thread jacking

Norkoastal Sep 27, 2008 05:57 PM

1 = Marshmallow 5 = Stiff I set mine at 2-2, 2-3, or 3-3 for a blend of comfort and high speed stability..

Got the same setup - H&R and Illuminas. I like the 4F/4R. Not too rough for me since my H&R springs have been on the Maxima SE since 2001. Illuminas installed 2 weeks ago.

sublime258 Sep 28, 2008 10:13 AM

Wow your people's roads must be perfect, because here in PA, if I had mine on 4F/4R...I think the bumps/potholes/cracks/canyons in the road would make my car fall apart. I have mine on 2F/3R and it's still a little rough for my liking.

Has anyone cut 1/2 a coil off the the front springs to even the drop?

maxximaa Sep 28, 2008 10:32 AM

the front would be easy to adjust but the rear would be pain in the *** coz of the carpet.

maybe i'll just keep it off until i find my liking.:D

lol.....granted were talking about some one who had Original GLE suspension......

the only time i will soften it up a bit is when i know im taking a little road trip...ill do 3F/4R.......

man im gonna let this be known....im waiting it out a little bit for that M3 coupe.... so you can image how i like 2 drive

808max00 Sep 30, 2008 05:04 PM

I know what you mean....I drove the M3 coupe (I believe a 2006) and found it to have a very stiff suspension although he was riding on 245/35 19" tires. doh.

robbiem Sep 30, 2008 07:06 PM

I had sprint springs on mine for about a year, i always kept it at 5-5 or 4f-5r and it was pretty stiff.. I just put the stock springs back on last weekend and I am loving 1-1.
