2000 nissan maxima - abs/slip/traction control light on??

2000 nissan maxima - abs/slip/traction control light on??

I did a search and came up with possibity's but im posting to ask if there correct. That it could possibly just be a bad abs sensor can cause all the lights on. The lights dont always stay on like ill drive around for a while and nothing then all of sudden all the light's come on but not cel. I think is come's up when i scan it saying tcm module but im not 100% sure as i was checking the tps code. If the tcm module is bad or going bad will all the lights come on as the transmission shift's /downshifts perfectly. Thanks Brett

There was some snow last week but only for about 2 days and the car was driven maybe 5miles in it if that. Also the axles where replaced about 2 months ago but the lights come on sometimes and then go away and come back on randomly.

This sounds like the same problems that i had. i have a 04 maxima and my abs light would come on for a little while and then turn off and it would just keep doing this and as i can to a stop the abs would kick on and off and i would loose braking power, so i took it to a shop and had them scan it. so they did the scan and told me that my two back sensors were bad cause salt got into them and that the abs module is junk to. SO OVER ALL IT'S GOING TO BE $2500

I have the same problem

I have this same issue with my maxima. However, sometimes at start-up I get a weird noise that sounds like a spring being sprung. I usually have the light and noise upon start-up, but sometimes I get them while I am driving. When it happens during a drive, I hear the noise and feel the brake pedal shutter slightly. Any suggestions? Anyone else experience this?

bump for having almost the same issue...I was sitting at a red light with my brake pedal deepressed and suddenly I felt a pulsation under my right foot and i looked down at the dash and I see an orange ABS light on

I cut the car off and cut it back on, the light stayed on...I cut it off once more and cut it back on..The light stayed off...I drove for about 5 or 6 more minutes before it came back on

Is this something that I have to get checked out at a nissan dealership?

I had this same problem a few months ago. All three lights were on (ABS / Slip / Traction Control) but no SES light. It turn out that it was Both ABS sensors on the rear tires were bad. Had my mechanic replace them both and I haven't had the problem since. I don't remember the exact cost (because i had him replace my brakes and rotors while he had everything off anyway and it needed it) but I believe the sensors were about $125 each, so you could probably bank on spending about $300-$400 for the total job, parts and labor. (you could probably do it yourself and save on the labor)

I'll bet on a sensor. Search for reading the codes from the abs. I forget how to do this but it involves the abs light blinking in sequence. It tells you which sensor is bad.

I just had to diagnose my own ABS problem (ABS light only) on a 2001. I had to put together some information to figure out how to check the codes, here is a thread with my info:

tsc off/slip/engine light

did anyone find the problem? because I have the same problem, front two cv shafts were out, drivers side was replaced, now the slip/tsc off/engine light all come on, but you drive the car for a little bit after re setting(via removing the ground cable on the battery) then no code and nothing, while driving for 5 minutes. I turn the car off for 5 minutes and the second I turn it back on all the lights come back on.

Please let me know

Sorry to bump this old thread but I have a 2000 Maxima with a bad miss. The #3 cylinder is misfiring. But at the same time this happened, the TCS OFF and SLIP lights came on the dash.

I need a new coil pack but found it odd that someone else had a similar issue as me.

not that unusual really, if you search for tcs off and slip I feel the most common response is to check ignition coils

and this is all unrelated to OP who said abs light was also on
