zero2sixtyZ 01-23-2009 08:15 PM

Sounds good. I love how it sounds without the muffler. Not smooth at all, but she screams! Are you doing full exhaust soon?

Ahmad_1290 01-23-2009 08:19 PM

Im not sure yet. Probably not. Ima roll like this for a while till moneys right

atxking27 01-23-2009 08:25 PM

I just had my y pipe installed today in my 01 and my car sounds like yours in the "no muffler" video, except without the backfire. Sounds good in both though, good job

klemenz 01-23-2009 08:25 PM

hows the drone?

Ahmad_1290 01-23-2009 08:27 PM

forgive me for the noob question but what do you mean by drone?

klemenz 01-23-2009 08:32 PM

when it idles does it make a sort of loud vibrating/"droning" noise that is easily heard in the cab?

Ahmad_1290 01-23-2009 08:35 PM

Some what. But its not Thatt loud. Its real deep at 2200. You can hardly hear it after 3500

klemenz 01-23-2009 08:38 PM

that's good.

it sounds really nice!

cole 01-23-2009 08:59 PM

hi-tek22 01-23-2009 10:12 PM

i just purchased a Megan catback, hopefully...It doesnt sound that bad, Ima keep the stock muffler, and if i cant deal with the drone im gonna go back to the stock muffler, or find a Magnaflow

s1mply_v 01-23-2009 11:00 PM

Holy crap, your coming up eh..

Whats next for your car?

skidz88 01-23-2009 11:28 PM

scarface4522 01-24-2009 06:59 AM

perkman87 01-24-2009 07:21 AM

Torgus 01-24-2009 08:00 AM

Ahmad_1290 01-24-2009 08:28 AM

thanks guys. I'm waiting to see how those OBX headers turn out. If they are any good. I will try n get those.

cole 01-24-2009 11:01 AM

I'm with you. Sure, it would be nice if the stock exhaust had a little more sound like the G35 or 350Z but on long trips it sure is nice having a quiet exhaust.

Still, it isn't bad for aftermarket.

Nightrunner01 01-24-2009 12:02 PM

i took the resonator off my 01 and got magnaflow hiflow cat, and flowmaster 40 series muffler to top it off. i love the sound of this car, sounds great for 20 bucks!

mist max2000 01-24-2009 02:28 PM

you got any install pics? because from what i see that muffler is significantly shorter then the stock muffler...did you just cut the old one off and weld on an extention pipe and weld it in place?,.. do the hangers line up?

Ahmad_1290 01-24-2009 04:21 PM

Yea. Its way smaller. I had to get a 2 to 2.5inch adapter welded on to the pipe. My friend installed it in his shop and he didnt have one of those pipe benders so i went to autozone and picked up one of those exhaust flex pipes and clamped both ends, and for the hangers. I only used the 2 by the tips.. and its on there pretty tight. I'll post some pics up later.

Progress 01-24-2009 04:35 PM

I'm under the impression that the only exhaust part worth keeping stock in our cars is the rear-section; the only piece the OP replaced. Different strokes I guess.

Ahmad_1290 01-24-2009 04:43 PM

pics installed

That means it drones, lol.

Ahmad_1290 01-24-2009 07:27 PM

How much louder would it get if i remover the resonator?

Not sure I can quantify how much louder, but it will be considerably louder, and the tone will be more raspy and not as "smooth". I personally think it'd sound like crap without a resonator, but some people like that.

If you want loud with a nice tone, get some good headers, keep your resonator. Listen to some of those exhaust clips in the sticky (whatever still works) and you might be able to get an idea.

crap how did you get passed inspection, that flex pipe will not pass here, there so fricking anal about that.

Ahmad_1290 01-25-2009 11:55 AM

I got it inspected last month, but i dont think they care about. As long as theres no CEL

rich2342 01-25-2009 12:10 PM

If your budget is that tight it's not too bad all things considered.

Good luck

Blitzfist 01-25-2009 01:00 PM

not bad I might just pick one of these up. how much do you think it would cost with install?

Ahmad_1290 01-25-2009 02:53 PM

I am not sure really. Back in the day when I had a honda. Midas charged me $70 to install the muffler. So it'll be somewhere around there.
