HID'S
Ok heres the deal, i bought a set of HId conversions for my 2000 maxima, the only problem im having with them is, i dont have the use of my high beams once connected, is there an adapter or something i can buy to make it so both my hi and lo beams work ?
|
im assuming you bought the plug and play HID kits on ebay? You can only have high beams if the kit you bought had the bulb with both high beam and low beam in one. You have to get new bulbs. Make sure it says high beam also, these cost a little extra.
|
Haven't heard of an adapter, but they do make Bi-xenons which is for both hi and low beam.
|
Unless you got Bi-Xenon HIDs, you won't have your highs.
|
I bought a XENTEC kit, do i just need different bulbs? or a whole new kit? They are 10000k

And 10,000K? Don't go above 8000K.
I would even go as far as to say don't go above 6000K. Best combination of performance/aesthetics. |
WHATS WRONG WITH THE 10000K KIT? I HAPPEN TO LIKE THEM.

2) Too much light output (lumens) lost as you go up the Kelvin scale 6000K looks the best as it gives off whitish-blue light and there is only marginal loss in light output from stock 4300K. But it's your car, so go with whatever floats your boat |

To make the kit bi-xenon, you need a whole new kit. You COULD just add bulbs and a relay to this kit, but its not worth it. Why do you need highs.

well in the lovely state of CT we do not have safety inspection so i technically do NOT need high beams, although it is just nice to know they are there when needed on a crappy day(such as today when it is snowing).

I haven't been impressed with any of the HID bi-xenon setups nor hi-lo setups
|
Well, i suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion, but as for me i can definately tell the difference in light output to the ground for better visibility at night time. But like i said everyone is entitled to their opinions.

10K is much too high for hid,s you would get more light output from your normal headlights.
|
If you have stock headlights, you definitely need the bi-xenon kit because that model year only had single bulb. Now if you had bought the aftermarket halo kit, you wouldn't have a problem because the HID kit includes the low-beam only, which is really all you would need.
|
yes i got stock headlights, and no my stock bulbs did NOT produce more light.maybe on paper it does, but in my eyes and my visibility it does not. Regardless when i do buy a Bi-Xenon kit its going to be 8000k and im going to sell the 10000k bulbs and buy 8000k bulbs for my current ballasts

When it comes to fog lights, capsules > HID every day of the week, imo. For functionality, looks, and wallet. |
