00 SE weird acceleration?!?!

So my pops picked up this 2000 max se for me today and he drives like an old fart and he said it runs excellent....i get in it and punch it to she what she's got and it fell on its face. At first it didn't even downshift but as I tried more and more it got a little better. Ive driven many 00-01 max's before and thered definitely something something wrong. My dad put premium gas and fuel cleaner in a few days before also. There's no CEL's on or anything. Anyone know what it could be??

Also the car had been sitting for a couple of months and it just got a lube oil filter done today as well.... any input would help. THANKS!!!

Heard it all before and experienced it myself. I'm going to say it's your MAF.

Haven't had a MAF problem yet with my Max (Thank God), but it sures sound like the MAF issue I once had with a Honda.

But before you go rushing out and replace an expensive part do the filters. A clogged fuel filter will sure as anything let the car run great when not pushed and then collaspsed when pushed hard.

Good Luck and keep us updated.

i would do all these anyways but...
clean MAF
clean TB
Seafoam
Change Air Filter
if that doesnt do it...
Check Fuel filter
check plugs/wires

ide also try reving it up see what happens. when the maf went in my grams altima 3.5l it just wouldnt run and when i unpluged to get home it woulnt rev but urs might just me a lil dirty. I cleaned my old trucks (chevy silverado 5.3) cuse i was haveing issues with n2o and it made a huge diff just driving around

Its the MAF not the fuel filter. The fuel filter is in the tank, dont even waist your time with that. I have 124k on mine and the fuel filter is fine. If you do decide to pull the fuel pump do yourself a favor and install a 255 walbro.
