Tie Rods, Bearings, Control Arms & Sway Bar Links..Isn't it all about the Bushings?
 

I went to a mechanic today and told me to 'renew the suspension' I need inner and outer tie rods, front wheel bearings, lower control arms left and right, upper shock tower mounts, dust boots front and rear both sides, and sway bar links left and right. Aren't most of these parts made of Iron or steel? Why would I have to replace the tie rods unless they are bent? The control arms unless they are bent. Isn't it all about the bushings???? I agree that maybe the dust boots are torn and the tower mounts are worn, but all the other stuff? C'mon

Anyways, what is a good price for all this service with parts?

Tie rod ends are a steel ball in a teflon socket. It'll wear and cause play, which isn't good.
Bearing are metal on metal, which wear.
Shock mounts are rubber, metal and plastic, all of which wear, tear and deteriorate.
Dust boots/bump stops are rubber, which wear and tear.
Sway bar links are the same made up of four tie rod ends. See above.

Feeling better. How about the control arms? And how much is a decent price for the services using aftermarket parts.

why won't you do it yourself and save the labor costs. Itys not as hard as you might think. GL

Have a 22 month old and a 3 week old. Can barely breath on the weekend and don't have proper torque specs, wrenches and air guns. I'll leave it to the pros and get it done right. I got a quote for $1700 including replacing 5th gen rotors, calipers and pads (I provide those parts)

I recently changed out everything you listed except the strut mounts and boots. It took me 10.5 hours and cost me approx. $850 using moog tierod ends and endlinks, and oem everything else. I ordered the parts from Dave B and got a good deal. I don't even want to think of what it would have cost to have someone else do the work.

I'd appreciate feedback on the noticeable improvement in the ride quality etc.

Oh, yeah, forget to say that in the $1,700 he's going to drop the car too (H teins are provided by me.)

Sounds like you really need to concentrate on making a major splash as a Maxima enthusist or else your gonna have upgrade to a bus the way you're working overtime not in the garage! Congrats to the newborn!!!
