Beep to lock/unlock - Installed with pics and video

I got an 'electronic beep module' from kptechnologies.com and installed it. It comes with detailed instructions as to where to splice the 8 or so wires. Here is the link to my video of it in action... the order of the sounds in the video are as follows: It beeps twice when you first press unlock (driver's side), once for 2nd unlock (the rest of the doors), and once for lock.

So starting from the inside...

-this is under the dash on the driver's side. There is a box that controls (among other things) the door locks. The instructions told which wires of the EBM to splice to which of the wires coming out of the white plastic box under the dash. (example - this color goes to 'unlock wire') I used a voltage tester to determine which wire was which. (had my wife press lock/unlock while stabbed the tester into each wire. The light on the voltage tester will briefly light up if it's the right one. I used double sided tape and electrical tape to mount the black box of the EBM out of sight. (hence, not shown here)

-one of the wires from the EBM needs to be spiced into a wire that ONLY has a current running through it when the ignition is on. I used the GREEN wire coming out of the bottom of the fusebox. (there are 2 splices in the picture going to the green wire because I also wired up a switch for my Orion V2 Angel Eyes)

-I drilled a small hole in the firewall of the car to route the wires that go to the speaker.

-This is the the little speaker that actually emits the beeps. I put it just in front of the battery and behind the driver's side headlight. I thought that would be a good place for it to be heard, and it was.

-This is supposed to sound like the beep a Lexus makes, and it's similar. Sounds a bit like a microwave but it's not bad. You need to press and hold to unlock and lock buttons at the same time on the keyfob to disable the horn function when you lock the car. Feel free to ask questions as this isn't a full how to.

The sound reminds me of the Toyota OEM sound. Not bad though.

Exactly like my fathers fx45 and mother ex35. I think that's almost a replica of infiniti, sounds exact.

In the video, why arent your blinkers flashing along with the beeping?

Compared to the OEM Toyota beep, is it just as sharp and clear of a sound 2 feet away as it is 50 feet away?

the blinkers don't flash unless you lock it. that's one of the things that changes when you hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the fob and disable the honk.

Would this work with a 4th Gen Max??

I don't know. On the kptechnologies website, there isn't an option to select a year of vehicle lower than 2002. I'm guessing you could probably do it... but I don't know.

Dads Audi has the beep and thought it would be nice to have that instead of the friggin horn. Although his beep is different from this beep in the mod I prefer his over this mod but a beep is a beep lol. nice mod
