Folding Mirror Pinout (The answer you've been looking for)

I acquired some genuine TDM Nissan mirrors a while ago with the convex glass, sidemarkers, puddle lights, heated, and of course, folding functionality.

I searched a little only to realize the amount of people on here have no idea how to read wiring diagrams or the FSM for that matter. After seeing these threads asking all these newbie wiring questions I decided to show you guys the easiest way to wire these up. I'm sure i'll get comments saying that people tapped their cigarette lighter and turn signal bulbs, but this is a much simpler way since the wires are going to a central location.

I ran my wires from the door to inside the car through a small grommet that is located right beside where the bundled door wires go in. You can access this from the wheel well if you take the wheel liner off. When wiring the folding function to the switch itself run the (+) and (-) to the switch for one of the mirrors, then tap those wires for the second mirror. The (+) wire goes in the blank 2nd spot and the (-) wire goes to the last hole on the bottom row of the molex. Also, I noticed while looking through the FSM that I believe that all the heaters need to work is the heated mirror relay under the hood. I'm 90% sure all the wiring comes in all Maxima's. It's not cold enough here yet top try it out, but someone up north can let me know if that's the case.

This is how I wired mine and the mirrors worked the first time and still continue to work.

Overall, it took me about 3 hours start to finish. I had been putting this off for so long but due to uncertain circumstances, I had time to finally do this. I hope this helps and for those that don't understand how to read a wiring diagram or schematics, it wont do anything but help you.

GOOD JOB!!
Thanks for doing the research AFTER i got rid of my maxima. :)

great info..pics of your finished product! :)

actually, I see a small error but shouldn't make a difference. The RH blinker ground should go to Pin 43. Either way, if you did end up going to 64, it wouldnt matter because both blinkers use body grounds and a switched (+).

Hope this helps.

Out of all the features they have, I would trade all of them in except for the convex lens. Yes, it takes a while to get used to, but after that, you can weave through traffic with comfort and precision.

Has anyone else tried installing these mirrors using these instructions?

I'm going to have to double check my wire taps, but from what I get out of these instructions, I have the folding function working, and the right side turn signal working.

Puddle lamps aren't working using the shown pins. Had the same exact color wires/pins as the diagram.

For left side turn signal, I don't have a green/blue, it is green/black for that pin. I tried it, but it doesn't appear to work. I wouldn't think so, but maybe I35's are different?

It may just be my taps, I'll double check with a multi-meter in the very near future, cold and raining outside right now.

I have a 2003 I35 btw. Username is from my I30 which I no longer have.

mine are still working with this pinout, try comparing the pinouts from the 03 max and the 03 i35

So for the turn signal, you tap the positive into the pins 47 & 48, and the ground into 64? Correct me if i'm wrong, but is that right? I have some LED mirror arrow signals i'm installing on my 2003 and I want to find an easier way to hook them up.

How much easier can it be? take off the bottom part of the dash and tap 3 wires.

I also just verified it in the FSM, check out pages EL-82 & 83

No, I meant an easier way to hook it up than what I WAS going to do, which is running it through the firewall, tap into the signals at the headlight and ground it to the chassis. Your way is ALOTTTT easier. I don't have the same mirrors you have, but I took you signal instructions for my added signals, and Voila! They work! Nice work man!

thanks man, glad i could give back to the org!

nice schematic, and I will definitely be looking to do some mods to my 4th gen now.
