Dont know but you opened up a new can of worms by "opening up the flap". Good luck. I have a throttle body for sale if you need it. ;)

lol i didnt open it up i put my finger in it.. does it still matter?

Ghost_54 01-11-2010 02:52 PM

Yes it sure does matter, never touch or move the butterfly. As you have moved it you may have screwed things up. Your idle is most likely way off perhaps an idle relearn may save things. What is your current idle doing now that you have put things back together?

oh i didnt know that.. but any answers for the oil?

Ghost_54 01-11-2010 03:00 PM

Solve the first problem that you may have created, hows the starting of the car and the idle? as for the little residue of oil you see it can be cleaned up a couple of ways, using 1/3 of a can of seafoam sucked up through the master brake hose and then turn the car off let sit for approx. 10 mins and then restart the car a watch your smoke show as it will burn off most of that residue, an oil change will be required after using seafoam in this matter. If you have not used seafoam before search out the info here on the .org as there are several threads on how to do.

i just started the car it starts and it idles fine i cant really notice a difference and i took it around the block seems normal.. as for the seafom i did it about a week ago and alot of white smoke came out the whole block was white thanks for the help i appreciate it, any other ways to fix?

Ghost_54 01-11-2010 03:11 PM

It is some what normal to see this residue around the butterfly and if you were to remove the IM it can be cleaned with the proper throttle body cleaner, again search out threads on how to do ... if your in doubt get help with the proper procedure.

Sounds like you may have gotten lucky if the car is starting and running normally.

ok cool thanks alot i think ima pull it apart and clean it out.. also one more quick question. can this create performance loss or worse gas mileage?

Ghost_54 01-11-2010 03:17 PM

Well heavy build up of residue where it's not suppose to be will cause issues, and performance can always be better when parts are clean and work correctly. If your going to take things apart remember leave the butterfly alone and do not open it manually, the butterfly is extremely sensitive "Don't Touch"

Mine has a bit of residue near the butterfly and the car runs fine.

To assist in a reduction of oil in the IM you may wish to read up on the threads about installing an Oil Catch Can
