Engine swap, Won't start, need help...
 

I had the engine in my mom's 03 auto max replaced because she messed it up and she lost the key so i had a new one cut and reprogrammed...
To make a long story short, new engine is in and the car won't start...

The battery is new and all lights come on but car won't crank. When the mechanic bypasses it or jumps it, the engine cranks and runs no problem and sounds great but it won't crank when turning the key, It makes a weird kinda high pitched noise but won't crank when key is turned...

I tried the lock-out procedure, Am I missing anything? He said he could put a switch so once the key is in and you push the button, it will start, but i would like it to remain stock if possible, any other ideas please???:confused:

If it doesn't crank it must be something really simple, like fuse/relay/switch and tere're not so many there. Have you tried to start it in both P and N positions of your AT shifter? The weird sound if it is not loud can come from anywhere as there's no other noise to mask it. I wouldn't worry about that yet.

Yes tried to start in P and N....I'm gonna check all the fuses tomorrow, But it's not immobilizer related is it? and the sound is not loud it's more like a whining sound wen trying to crank but doesn't sound like anything abnormal...

This is not immobilizer as you said mechanic managed to get engine running. He also managed to start the engine by bypassing starting circuit and applying +12V directly to starter. This fact eliminates starter assembly too as it was able to turn engine and its relay - engage the starter gear. All you're left with are few wires, couple fuses, park/neutral switch and park/neutral relay. I suspect he forgot to plug some connector back when replacing the engine - you didn't have this problem before the replacement, did you?

Nope never had that problem, I'm guessing you geniuses are right and it's a fuse or relay thing, i'm gonna mess with it more and post up if it's running or not...

In that case the problem is the direct consequence of the engine replacement. Probability of the car developing it on its own right at this time is almost 0. I'd look for blown/not plugged in fuse or disconnected connector. It might even look plugged in but not all the way so please pay attention.

FSM for your car has a nice diagram on page SC-12. Take a look, it's really simple. It would let you narrow your search as all you need to do is to make sure things are connected the way it is drawn on that diagram.

Have you taken a look at your starter yet??? If it is not engagind all the way it will wine but idk if you can bypass that but mabye try taking it off and having it tested it could be your problem.

It's not a starter - please read the thread first: his mechanic already 'checked' it and OP didn't have a problem before the swap.
