Trick for getting MAF plug off easier
 

I got my MAF plug off and it was kinda hard....is there a trick to getting it off easier next time ....it seems when you push down on the button hard it makes it real hard to pull up at same time....

if your speaking in terms of the green ish plug on top of the maf,.. then i use a screwdriver to push the button down, while pulling up...

if your speaking in terms of taking the actual MAF out of the housing then once the 2 torx bits are out i use a flat head to poke pry around the whole thing till it gives way...

Was talking about the green ish plug on top of the MAF, I got it off but It was a little struggle...lol thought maybe I was doing it the wrong way...

no you were doing it fine,.. it is a pita,.. if you use like a screwdriver and press then button down and in ..gently.. it kinda pops off,... those plugs are all over the car,.. you'll get used to them,..but yes they can be a pita,...next time inspect it while its off,.. it has like 2 little prongs that stick out and hold it in.. IIRC

I broke mine while trying to yank out that sucka! I did not realize that the ARROW in the tab wa telling me to PUSH down! Instead I was pinching it.

I used a long nose plier and pinched the hell of it and...SNAP....things flew in the air. Now I have the freeking MAF tie wrapped to the base....LOL!

Must be different from 5.5 gens. Had no problems with my MAF connector, just your typical connector.

It took me 20 minutes to get it off -_-

Electrical connectors that have not been removed after long periods of time generally put up a great fight. What I found helps is to wiggle it back and forth, but be gentle about it. It's not going to lift straight up, so start to wiggle back and forth as you pull up. Once you get the first or second back and forth it'll usually pop off easily.

Don't be afraid to use a tiny flathead screwdriver for leverage either.

Good advise. Hence, it is good practice to once in a while unlock, lock connectors to unseat the seal.

Wish I was thinking when I yanked that sob! It is not like an easy replacement item. You have to get an entire harness.

I have removed them twice so far and it was still pain to do it second time. Whoever designed it, needs to be taken out and shot. Who comes with a release mechanism which needs to be pushed in and pulled out at the same time?????

My mechanic used a an awl type tool to pop out the ignition coils and that connection type is similar to the MAF one.
