Any max's here have a sharkfin?

I've never seen any, but I'm only assuming that's because our cars have the antenna built into the rear window.
Were my car to have an antenna, I can maybe see doing it. But at the same time, I think a lot of the fins are too rounded to match the square lines of our 5th gens.
I suppose if I ever got satellite radio in my car, I'd maybe try a fin versus the little black dot, though.

Well, check out Drunkie's album. He has shark fins, plural. Or teeth, or however you want to call them. Not sure if it's what your looking for, but take a look.

They're different from the BMW fin which is just an antenna.
At any rate, neither would really do anything for our cars...

Haha, I was totally off. I learn something every day. Looks eh, okay. Not my style. Any sort of roof spike/fin/vortex generator would be purely for looks. I'd say just keep it clean and free of all unnecessary "stuff".

i shud've been more specific. i was leaning more towards the look side rather than actually using it for what it is meant for.
i like the way it looks on my infiniti and i was thinking of buying one and sticking it on. just wanted to get confirmation on how it would look first of course!

Only thing I can think of is like an antenna you put on the roof that is slanted backwards... Is that a sharkfin?
I saw the pics in that one album, and did not like... A small antenna though, no biggie.

Like I said, I think our car's lines are a little too square for a shark fin, but to each their own.
Personally, I think vortex generators with a black overlay would look way nicer. Just my taste, though.

Our cars look just fine as is, other than the 5.5 gen clear tails which look a bit dated now. Smoked lenses takes care of that issue. Otherwise, I see no reason to modify the appearance of the car beyond blacking out the 5.5 gen grill or the stainless steel trim around the windows.

I've had one on my wifes now my daughters car for a couple of years now. I think it looks good and I have'nt seen any around my area with them. See link:

hey is there a write up on how to "red out" the rear tails?

THIS. I Love the look if this but I am still trying to figure out how to get them apart...Bake em and pull them apart?

The tails are permanently sealed up. Look at the design of them sometime.

2 ways:
1) Buy BlueBatMobile overlays, which go over your amber to convert to red signals. These are what I have, but you can notice them at an angle or the side as they are on the OUTER lens.
2) Buy Testors Transparent Candy Apple Paint and spray into the housing itself, thus painting the amber to red. There is a how-to somewhere on the forum, just search some and you'll find it.
Smoked look better? Of course it does.
I tried to do BOTH BlueBatMobile overlays, but the smoked one is a little bit harder with the curvature of the taillight. You can see I stretched it too much on the right. Done properly, I think they look the best. I will probably give them another try soon enough.
You can see his gallery of overlays at bluebatmobile.net, and his email is somewhere there for ordering purposes.

I resisted my first and second reactions to this sharkfin mod, particularly after reading "...it is fake. But bet ya it will look nice". Typically, the best thing to do with strong, negative opinions is just walk away.
But then I realized: this mod is just like our rear spoiler. It's something that mimics a functional part, but really isn't, existing solely for appearances. With that bit of insight, I say go for it. Whatever makes you happy. If it were me (and it won't be, I promise), I'd color match it to the car.
