'02 Maxima Throttle Body relearn procedure won't take
I have tried for hours and hours to reset my idle back to factory 850 RPM on my '02 MAX to no avail. I get all the way to the very last step and the RPMs drop to 850 and stay there perfectly. All is good right? No, because as soon as I turn the car off, it goes right back to its old 1100 RPM idle when I turn the car back on.
Seriously need some help with this if anyone has any ideas as to what could be interfering with this. Could an aftermarket alarm mess things up? Has this happened to anyone else before? Could really use your help guys. Thanks in advance. |
How long do you leave the car running? I did this reset two days ago and failed on the first attempt. I only left the car running less than a minute.
On the second attempt, I let it sit and idle for about 5 minutes with an occasional rev to watch it drop to the correct idle RPM again. Then I took it for a quick run around the block before shutting the car off. Has been perfect ever since. I read that you need to give it time to let it memorize the idle. If that doesn't work, do the rest, shut the car off, pull the neg cable from the battery, turn on the headlight or hit the horn to drain any leftover energy, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. This was an alternate solution I read when I was searching for the fix. |
I would just go to the dealer and see if they will do an IAVL procedure for free. Takes 10 min!!

Yeah I couldn't get it to take either. Went to the dealership and it even took them a while to get it to take. Just take your car in. Solved my problems.
