She's Toast!

Well,

On the way to work this morning some guy in a F-150 traveling southbound took a left right in front of me as I was going northbound. Needless to say, I t-boned him on his passengers side going about 40mph.

My back/neck is hurting but nothing broke. The Max on the other hand is totaled for sure. Seat belts and the airbags saved me.

I will be getting some pics of the Max sometime today. I didnt have the opportunity this morning since I went from my seat to the ambulance.

:bawling:

Before anyone asks, not sure if I will part it out.

Pictures now attached.

****, sorry to hear that. :(

You are OK though, that's the most important.

rroderiques77 Nov 10, 2010 09:07 AM

Probably some sorry mother ****er who never should have been behind the wheel of a moving vehicle. Good to hear you're ok VQ.

MoncefA33 Nov 10, 2010 09:08 AM

Wow, that's awful. Thankfully you're okay, for everything else, there's insurance.

phatboislim Nov 10, 2010 09:09 AM

lol @ partout comment, but glad you are ok. i'm sure it could have been worse

TallTom Nov 10, 2010 09:12 AM

Now that i got that out of the way....dibs on the wheels :nervous:

VQP0WER Nov 10, 2010 09:26 AM

I got like 2 dozen x-rays and nothing broke. Just really pissed off now because I had just polished the headlamps and installed new horns....bah!

Thanks for the well wishes. Pictures to come.....

phatboislim Nov 10, 2010 09:28 AM

i hate when you do something fresh to the car/plan to the next day and soemthing drastic happens....i know your frustration.

The6spdMax Nov 10, 2010 09:33 AM

40mph... wow. Glad you are ok...

Rood Nov 10, 2010 09:33 AM

sucks, sorry to hear man

Rochester Nov 10, 2010 09:39 AM

My sympathies, VQPOWER. I really liked your merlot max.

This brings to the forefront fears I like to repress, which is having a car worth far less than the sum total of the mods installed. Even more so, having a car worth infinitesimally less than its personal worth in time and effort.

It's a risky game. Again... my sympathies.

Prophecy99 Nov 10, 2010 09:46 AM

damn, sorry to hear this. glad your here typing this though.

Eirik Nov 10, 2010 09:50 AM

This doesn't help at all, but I have seen a cop pull someone over for doing what the truck did. Exact same thing happened to me, only I was doing 50 and it was 3AM. This SUV decides he has enough time to quickly execute a left-hand turn as I'm coming up. I left off the gas as soon as I realized what he was doing. An unmarked Crown Vic had been cruising in the lane next to the turn lane and decided he didn't like how fast the SUV took that turn, or how close I was to it?, so he flips on his lights and siren and jerks it left, too! I had to slam on my brakes so I wouldn't T-bone the dumb cop. But, hey, maybe that SUV guy got a ticket and won't do something like that again and cause an accident. =/

If bones break in an accident like that, it's almost easier to fix than dealing with ambiguous whiplash. Take it easy and check into therapy. Best of luck to you in these sad times, VQ.

Sorry to hear about the loss, man. Glad you're safe, though.

I know how frustrating it can be when careless drivers are completely oblivious to other things going on around them, and you take the heat as a result. Half of Nashville drives like that.

I'm a strong advocate of the U.S. stepping up on training requirements to operate a motor vehicle...

Chris Gregg Nov 10, 2010 10:36 AM

Just heard on the radio yesterday about "baby boomers" hitting geriatric ages and fact more and more there are elderly who have impaired vision, responses, and perceptual capabilities who are no longer adequate in operating a motor vehicle who are on the road.

I had an old man run a stop sign on me in my '89 Max turbo several years ago. He hit me and I had to run him down (I followed him and flagged him to pull over! LOL!!) I asked if he saw me - "No." I asked what was he looking at then... - "The sun." The sun was directly behind him btw....so he was looking at the sun, behind him, when running a stop sign.

Please God let the laws change so that the inept are kept off the roads!

Man, that's heartbreaking...

...and those wheels are still beautiful.

homeyclaus Nov 10, 2010 11:15 AM

VQ, hope the other driver's insurance and/or your insurance isn't screwing you over for this on top of it all.

That's quite a hit for a Maxima to take, based on the pictures. Glad you're okay.

tookrzy4u192 Nov 10, 2010 11:38 AM

Man I'm sorry to see that. glad you're not top hurt. Let me know if you need to know the place for where I got my physical therapy done

RLW001 Nov 10, 2010 12:57 PM

Glad you are OK, that is most important. Don't settle for the first offer from the insurance company, a car like yours should be well above book value. You may even want to spring for an independent appraisal.

eric to de max! Nov 10, 2010 03:19 PM

all that matters is that your ok man. need anything let us know!

HotshotVQ35 Nov 10, 2010 03:52 PM

sucks man, like all said health is more important than the car..and she looked hella clean too...

stockmax Nov 10, 2010 04:00 PM

Hope you have receipts for all of your mods. My friend of mine wrecked his car, and when he told his insurance company he had mods to the car, they told him they would only pay if he had receipts to prove it. He had saved everything, so he brought in a shoebox full of receipts. The insurance company figured out how much the car was worth stock (KBB, ads on the Internet / in the paper, etc.), then added most of his mod costs on top of it. He made out pretty good. Granted, this was a few years ago. Insurance company was State Farm.

Bottom line, don't take their first offer. The insurance company WILL lowball you. Do your own research and come up with a number you think the car is worth. Then, negotiate hard. Treat it like they were going to buy your car, and don't budge from what you feel it is worth.

Also, glad you're okay. That looks like it was quite a hit:eek:, I hope I never have to do that.

Keith

VQP0WER Nov 10, 2010 04:28 PM

We'll see how the insurance game goes. I'm gonna have to locate all the receipts for my mods, which I should have.

The sound of the impact is the worst thing. The impact knocked the wind out of me and when I was able to get a breath, I ended up sucking in a sh!t load of air bag dust which made me just about pass out.

It really upsets me that I didn't even get to take a sip of my pumpkin spice cappuccino from 7-11. Sh!t ended up going all over my car and my leg.

tookrzy4u192 Nov 10, 2010 05:37 PM

Pain and suffering money :) say you can't ever drink a cappuccino again because of the trama
