Question about idler pulley removal

Question about idler pulley removal
Alright, long story short, snapped the vertical bolt/rod trying to take it off to replace my idler pulley.
I should hopefully get a new replacement part soon if I can find it..
But the question is, when removing the vertical 14mm bolt on the tensioner adjuster inside the engine compartment (after loosening the pulley nut that is) to remove it, is it reverse threaded? [counter clockwise tightens it, clockwise loosens it...naturally]
I had some people say that that specific bolt is reverse threaded, and I just wanted confirmation from a few people before I go up to a parts car and do the same exact thing lol.
Or I was wondering if it was just so rusty that it broke from being turned the correct way (counter clockwise)
Thanks alot -Spence'

Going by memory here but I'm 99% sure it's a regular "righty tighty, lefty loosey" bolt. Mine has a sticker on it saying something about tighten after belt adjustment or words to the effect but it says nothing about it being a left hand threaded bolt.

The bolt is reverse-threaded. However, in order for you to loosen the belt, you still turn the adjusting nut counter-clockwise (and clockwise to tighten the belt) or, as kbohip puts it, "righty tighty, lefty loosey". It behaves like a regular-threaded bolt because of the the way the adjusting nut works against the flange that holds it, to tighten and loosen the belt.

Mine was completely jammed. Had to cut the belt, remove the assembly and work it on the bench. 1/4 turn back and forward with a lot of WD40 and oil.
I have put antiseize all over befor poutting it back, work like a charm since then.

That sounds like a lovely time.
I kinda wish nissan didn't half-*** the bolts inside the car and have them rust out so easy for us northeners.
But it's good to know that the part is reverse threaded, and I'll attempt it a little more cautiously next time.

OY, Vey, this just happened to me today, I was so pissed, seem like age is the culprit that caused to snap off, cuz my belts are original since I got her new, i have 75K miles and I just bought dayco belts and I was about to replace them today.
