How many of you DON'T have an active check engine light?

Just curious.

P0300: Once in a while, mainly if she idles for a bit.

Scottwax Feb 26, 2011 09:44 AM

Getting an occasional pending P430 code and once a pending P1147 code. All started when I added a can of Seafoam to the gas last week. Must be cleaning out some nasty stuff in there. Hopefully once I burn through this tank and put some fresh gas in it, I'll be back to code free.

In my other Maxima (the one that got totaled), it had been code free for a good year and a half.

Ghost_54 Feb 26, 2011 09:53 AM

Just once and awhile now P0455 & P1448 both related to the evap canister, I just reset them for now until I am ready to do the replacement parts

MajesticBlue2K2 Feb 26, 2011 09:54 AM

I have the good ol' P0455 & P0442

Rochester Feb 26, 2011 09:56 AM

In 9 years of ownership, I've had:

(2) failed coil-packs; replaced.
(1) EVAP charcoal tank cracked and failed; replaced.
(1) Throttle-body stuck at high-idle; replaced.

And that's it. I think I'd slowly lose my mind if I had to live with a persistent SES light.

So... my polling response is, "No."

ChrisMan287 Feb 26, 2011 09:59 AM

So far in two years all I got recently was P0340 for that bank one camshaft sensor but I changed that and all is well again. That stalling was annoying as **** lol.

TunerMaxima3000 Feb 26, 2011 10:06 AM

Since I bought it! Idle code, forget the number. Having a 2000/2001 SUCKS for codes, I need to invest in a code reader. Cosider yourselves lucky if you have a 5.5 at least you can reset your codes yourselves.

I also have ABS, SLIP, and TRAC lights on. It's a yellow party on my dash every time I get in!

This one is normally present when there is an issue in the charging system .ie weak battery or an alternator on its way out and not delivering the correct amperage

DennisMik Feb 26, 2011 10:27 AM

Had this car about 2 and a half years and only had the maf trigger the light and that was the day after I got the car.

nelledge Feb 26, 2011 10:29 AM

Tripped a P0128 shortly after the cold weather started. Replaced the t-stat (stuck in open position) and the code went away a week later. Win.

tookrzy4u192 Feb 26, 2011 10:32 AM

I got codes after I installed headers. And for some reason my ABS light has been on for a while.

spock Feb 26, 2011 10:42 AM

I've had the P0456 code twice. Once on the day I bought it, and once about 8 months ago. Both times I cleaned up the nasty filler neck and the code went away. That's it in the almost 2 years that I've owned the car. So, I voted no.

sparks03max Feb 26, 2011 10:55 AM

I rarely have a SES light. Only times I've had one was when my O2simulator died and occasionally when my UTEC is acting up causing p0300.

Had to use the dremel to get the neck all smooth so my new gas cap would seal tight. Code went away the very next day.

bjr Feb 26, 2011 11:35 AM

Haven't had one for about 20,000 miles, bad MAF.

essential1 Feb 26, 2011 11:36 AM

Why do you think I have a code reader? My first 5.5 gen, the first 18 months I had it I dealt with regular SES lights. Last 18 months not at all. A lot of are cars are hitting the age when stuff like pre-cats, MAFs, O2s, etc go out. Once you get everything working right again, you tend to be SES light free.

Thanks for that tip (nohomo) but my battery/alternator are in good shape.

I assumed it was due to the broken Wheel sensor, and because its Auto, that throws the Trac and Slip light off too? Just made logical sense, I haven't bothered to fix the sensor yet.

I am surprised with the resounding 'NO'.
I'm impressed with the poll results... so far.
Good thread OP.

MADMAXimaVQ35 Feb 26, 2011 12:52 PM

No light for me just grabbed my 1 owner 2k2 se about a month ago with 35,487 miles on it which was like finding a gold mine for me

HotshotVQ35 Feb 26, 2011 01:15 PM

trooplewis Feb 26, 2011 01:28 PM

haven't had one since the week I bought the car, about 10,000 miles ago

zzmmrx0xmzz Feb 26, 2011 01:49 PM

I had my SES light for the longest time. After getting it scanned it happen to the O2 sensor and P0011. After adding oil and deleting the code it hasn't bothered me for the past few weeks.

MONTE 01&97 SE Feb 26, 2011 02:04 PM

Had a code P0300 once, changed the PCV valve had it reset and no problems since..........That has been the only CEL that this Max has had, and I have had it since it was brand new!

luvlexus101 Feb 26, 2011 03:07 PM

Evap canister codes here. I get a code of the DR mod sometimes too.

I've had headers for 2 years and only had a CEL when my O2sim went bad. Threw a new one on and no issues.

Eirik Feb 26, 2011 08:21 PM

Dang! When the poll had 15 votes, fully 2/3rds of those who voted had a CEL of some sort. Now, with 47 votes, it flip-flopped to only 1/3rd of people who voted having a CEL, approximately.

I, too, am surprised there are so few codes being tossed around! Whoever said they thought the 5th gens came with CELs from the factory got me to chuckle--I was under the same impression. I guess this is good news for those of us who are struggling through the code game, though. If this many cars are good to go with 37K - >250K miles on them... Yeah, that's a good sign.

It's a relief to see engine problems being a vast minority. :)

Gizm0 Feb 26, 2011 08:40 PM

In 1 and a half year of ownership, only had it once. It was because I didnt close my gas cap correctly... :/

2kmaxseblack2k Feb 26, 2011 08:49 PM

He keep's me company at night. haha...typically when its cold I have more problems with my ses light. I currently have one right now and have no idea, why or what it is. :_( any insight guys?

Cant_Get_Ryte Feb 26, 2011 08:58 PM

atxking27 Feb 26, 2011 11:01 PM

kbohip Feb 26, 2011 11:06 PM

Amave Feb 27, 2011 07:22 AM
