Race gas:do or don't

Taking the car to the track next weekend and i have 4 gallons of 112 octane race gas left over from my bike and was curious if i throw some in if it would would 1.make any difference in performance and 2.If it would hurt anything.Just bumped the timing 2 degrees if that makes a difference.

Don't waste 112 octane.

Need higher CR and timing to make power with high octane.

You sure that 112 isn't LEADED race fuel?

This is my email with Rockett Racing Fuel

Hi Daniel,
Our 111, 114 & 118 blends are ethanol free. These are leaded racing blends which are not legal for street use and will harm emission control systems in late model vehicles. Our 100 Octane Unleaded Racing Fuel blend contains 10% ethanol as it is a street legal blend.

Our 111 octane blend can be purchased in drums from the Rebel Oil warehouse at 1900 W. Sahara Ave. in Las Vegas.(702-385-7099)

Our 114 & 118 octane blends can be purchased from our Master Marketer in charge of drum sales.

Also curious...do you have your cats/precats in place? I've heard high-octane race gas can play foul with your cats.

Nah, gutted the pre-cats and bumped timing to 17+

If it's leaded it will dramatically shorten the life of your 02 sensors.

I just checked it's Torco 112 unleaded

T.One Jul 8, 2011 10:24 PM

If its unleaded go ahead. It wont damage anything. Lead in the gas is what breaks down everything and clogs **** up

I agree. High compression whether from radical pistons or boost is where you'll see gains. It's not going to hurt anything, you'll just be wasting good fuel in a car that can't utilize the high octane levels.

Cool, thanks for the input fellas

I put 100 octane in my stock tune G37 without cats.. it made no difference.. it actually felt faster on 91.

Rods03Max619 Jul 9, 2011 08:42 PM

Me don't really know...I put some in my 2000 Max don't know the number but I did notice the car ran real smooth like new but didnt feel nothing in the performance area...:D
