Front Strut/Shock recommendations

Guys,

I think i did put up a questions about the front shocks. one of mine is shot, and im pretty sure its time to replace both.

Can you guys recommend any good ones for a good price ? Im on a budget because i have blown about $500-600 in the past 1.5 months on the car adding tires, new motor mounts and now this.

I would appreciate it. I know everyone said stay away from ebay....so trying to do that.

Thanks

Depends on what you're looking for. Stock replacement or an upgrade to a strut/shocks with more aggressive dampening? If you want a stock ride I would recommend simply buying new OEM replacements from rockauto.com, or get Tokico HP's (also called Blues) which give a similar ride to stock.

If you want an upgrade or are planning on getting some aftermarket springs I highly recommend Tokico Illuminas. They are adjustable to suit your preference.

Also check out the KYB GR2 struts, they are very popular for OEM replacement. Whatever you do, don't get the Monroe struts. They are worthless.

Talk to djfrestyle. In fact, he has his own thread.

KYB-GR2 is not an OEM replacement. Slight drop and a little stiffer. Nothing drastic.

I was under the impression that the Tokico blues are the same exact ones as the OEM ones except in blue.

From my research, the KYB GR2's are pretty much as close to stock replacement as you can get short of getting the tokico blues and are only stiffer when it's cold. Haven't looked into it for a year or so though.

But if you replacements to go as close to OEM as you can, do tokico blues or kyb gr2.

It is weird, man. Everyone says GR-2's are so close to stock. I feel a clear difference.

Edit: i am done. I also replaced springs. Ignore me.
