Are the 2002 and 2003 ECU's the same?
 

The ECU on my 2002 6 Speed went bad. I am replacing it with an ECU out of a 2003 6 speed. My question is, are they exactly the same?

I noticed there are a couple of different ECU's for 2002's.

Not positive but I would think they would be the same.

When I ran a part search on AAA Nissan parts for a 2002 model using the 03 p/n 237106Y300 it returned this alternate for a 2002
Old Part Number 237106Y300
New Part Number 2371M6Y303RE

When I performed the same query using 237106Y300 for a 2003 it also returned 2371M6Y303RE
So I assume that ECM is ok for 02 and 03

On queries for a 2003 using the following 02 P/Ns it returned

237105Y700-no result

Old Part Number 237105Y701
New Part Number 2371M5Y703RE

237105Y703-no result

Lastly, queries for BOTH 2002 and 2003 using 2003 part numbers give

237106Y300 and 237106Y301
New Part Number 2371M6Y303RE

There is certainly some compatability between 02 and 03 Maxima 6 speed ECMs, perhaps even in all cases. Hopefully the cross-referencing will assist you.
