Found a loose rubber hose?

I was working on something in the engine bay today, and I accidentally dropped an allen wrench, and it fell in. It landed in that big plastic covering on the bottom. I cleaned out a lot of junk in there to find it. An old broken battery tie down rod, chunks of the rotting Radiator Support Bar, and then the wrench. But I also came across this:
Attachment 40738 What is this for? Should I be concerned? The engine runs ok, and there's no CEL. Here's where it came from: Attachment 40739 |
Maybe the AT breather hose?
http://postimage.org/image/vk5fbd0dx/ Nope. Looked at mine and the breather hose is thinner and longer. Can't see anything from the top that looks like that. |
I'd be more worried about getting your lower radiator support replaced than that little bend of hose at the moment.

it could just be a cover/protective hose for another smaller hose. Some hoses have that in certain locations where its close to the engine. Looks like you will have a look around on this one. Likely you will figure out what it goes to when you are doing something else to the car.

I agree with cabernet... That little piece looks exactly like the protective sleeve that goes on the "U" portion at the very top of the AT breather hose... of course, someone would've had to intentionally take it off...
OP, before you go paying someone to look around, why don't you look under another Max's hood to see if you can spot the differences? |
