Top 10 gen5.5 topics I like reading about
When new threads get started, or old threads get bumped, about these subjects, I always read them. In fact I kind of get disappointed when a new thread pops up, and the first reply is something like "you should've searched".
I've done my fair share of searching in the gen5 forum, and have learned a hell of a lot from it. But I have also learned alot by just watching this forum and reading about topics as they get posted.
Here is my top 10:
1. VQ35 oil consumption
2. Replacing stock clutch with a 350z clutch
3. Replacing stock flywheel with a Fidanza flywheel
4. Replacing transmission with an 05 6MT w/LSD (upgraded synchros)
5. Replacing engine with an 06-08 Maxima/Quest engine.
6. Replacing exhaust header with an OBX (avoiding precat issues)
7. Improving ride harshness and squeaks by replacing control arms/ball joints, tie rod ends, and/or swaybar links/bushings
8. Replacing blower motor and cabin air filter
9. Changing spark plugs
10. Replacing valve cover with a gen6 valve cover
If anyone has any interesting updates on any of these subjects, or just enjoys reading or writing about them, please feel free to post here.

I replaced my valve covers with 6th gen's and new gaskets. I like that a new PCV valve comes with the rear. My stock covers were leaking on the front passenger side, one front spark plug tube, rear passenger side, and one rear spark plug tube. Followed the FSM for appropriate RTV application near the sharp passenger side corners of both covers.
The best thing of all is, after looking closely at my camshafts, it doesn't appear this motor ever had oil feed problems to the head. They look like new with little to no marks on the journals. It's also nice not having a burnt oil smell if I accidentally turn off the recirculate on the HVAC.

I'm currently in the middle of a clutch job. It's very slow going as I only have Saturdays to work on it and it's been damn cold for most of those. I'm using a JWT flywheel and clutch. I also bought some goodies to upgrade while I'm tearing things apart.
NWP 5-Piece Intake Spacers
NWP VIAS Block Off Plate
ES Motor Mounts
ES Shift Bushings
JWT Pop Charger with R2C Filter
New Clutch Master and Slave Cylinders with One Piece Stainless Hose
OBX Headers
Cattman Fast Cat (Still Waiting)
Cattman 3" Cat Back (Still Waiting)
I noticed my valve covers were leaking so I purchased those as well (6th Gen)
I finally got the Transmission out last Saturday and found my rear main seal is leaking so I'm waiting on a new rear main and new oil pan gaskets right now.
Here's my leaking rear main...
New JWT Flywheel
And that !@#$$%!@ drive shaft bearing bracket. I destroyed the bearing getting it apart.
And I do believe someone was trying to figure out how to drop the oil pan while the transmission was out (seeing as how the engine is supported by a jack under the oil pan). I obviously ran into the same problem. I have a chain fall but I really didn't want to remove the hood and try to get it all lined back up when I had to put it back. This was actually my dads idea. It almost didn't work. The first time I tried the 2x4's sat too low and I couldn't level the engine enough to give me access to the belts.
It's hanging on a couple of bellhousing to engine bolts.

My friend and I did something similar when doing the RMS. Used a 4x4 with some heavy chains. The 4x4 was supported with smaller cut 4x4 and a giant lag screw holding both sides together. Not as nice as the one above.
