Meh, I'd rather have headers for a few hairs more. But Professor isn't a header type of guy. And we're lucky we still have companies that support our platform.

This is a good find though, since that code is just a headache in any Nissan you get.

I've got the same code in my Pathfinder, (3 though, so the other bank, either way, same thing) and it comes sometimes as soon as 50 miles, and sometimes as long as 200 miles, so keep us updated.

Headers are too much of a headache to install.

Also, how many dollhairs does that come to?

MaxDoogie 03-20-2013 09:32 AM

From my understanding, the only decent headers were Cattman's, which aren't in production any more and were 4 times the cost of the Y-pipe. The OBX headers require modification to work correctly, which makes them not worth it in my book.

I'll be ordering my Y-pipe soon as well to see if I can finally get rid of my P0420.

Didn't mean to instigate anything, it's never ending debate, and I sorta ended with this.

Hotshot made good headers, I don't think they still make them though, if you could find a pair that are slightly used you should be ok. I had them on my Sentra, and they flowed beautifully. Although, the install process was much quicker on that car.

But now I'm getting off topic, so I'll end here.

Well headers would be a nice thing however there is too much crap out there and trying to find a a decent set takes to much time to research and land a deal.

If I were you, I'd get the latest OBX version.

But then if I were you, you'd be me, and well ... I'd get headers. :p

Get OBX headers! $350 shipped, easy install with Jack stands, took about 5-6 hours for me with no air tools. Only mod I needed was a $20 relocation of the rear bank primary o2 sensor. Been installed for 1.5 years with no cel (antifouler trick) and no issues with the headers.

Amerikaner83 03-20-2013 12:56 PM

why did OP put the nonfoulers after the main cat? I was under the impression they went in place of the rear O2 sensors (but only in Cali spec cars) OP is obviously a FED spec, so the antifoulers are not required, correct?

Its fed spec and this is the the sensor that keeps throwing the code. So far since i installed it and drove over 200 highway miles the code remains to be seen, since the Y pipe that is the only cat on the car now. also the 2 front O2 sensors are before the precats.

Professor 04-02-2013 05:08 PM

creeping up on almost 900 miles, still no codes.

Ghost_54 04-02-2013 05:53 PM

My P0420 tends to come and go ... I'll get 300-400km and then the next time might be 500-600km ... yes I have an issue with the back 1 precat or it may just be the 02 sensor getting lazy
