just installed my HR springs and I'm hearing squeaking noises.....

i'm hearing these squeaking noises from my rear springs when I go over speed bumps. They don't make any noises at all otherwise.
I just got them installed on saturday.

Is this normal for now considering they're new springs?

mm..i don't think the noise is normal considering i had H&R springs on my 96, no squeaking noise. Did you install the plastic wraps on the end of the springs? if not, that might be the problem.

its not the springs.. its the FSTB

How do like they springs? Ride, Handling etc.
Does the rear of the car sag? How is the rear end sag with a full load of people?

I have H&R's just haven't installed them yet.

Thanks

it can't be the rsb or the fstb.

I only hear squeaking in the rear section of the car and it
only happens when I go over speed bumps

what plastic wraps? The springs came in the white HR box with nothing else. If you're talking about those things that are on the struts
then yes....they were placed inside them first.

There are a few ideas: the bushing on a RSB, FSTB rubbing, Lowering springs (If they are progressive, its most likely the closer gapped coils are rubbing on each other), they didnt isntall the little rubber piece that sits on the spring cups, or when they installed the whole assembly back in, there is a orange gasket that sits between the top of the struts/spring assembly & the frame of the car. Make sure that orange gasket isnt dry & shrivled up.

what if that orange gasket was shriveled up?

would that contribute to the squeaking noise?

So I guess it's safe to say the new springs should not squeak at all?

Well, its actually kind of normal for some lowered car to have noises.

If that orange gasket is all torn up or shriveled up, it means its time for a new one. I have been told this isnt really needed but i have also been told that it does. I still use mine just to be safe. I figured its there for a reason, if not, that wouldnt be there ya know. :)

I threw away my shriveled up orange gaskets on my 95 when I changed the springs. The car never squeeked though, I don't think that is his problem.

I would have to hear the sound in person to really understand what's going on. Park your car, pop the trunk and push the car up and down and see if you can get a better understanding of were the sound is comming from. Check to see were exactly the noise is being made in, maybe in the trunk? etc.
