2003 acceleration problem

Hi guys I was on the highway today and my car was driving fine when all the sudden my acceleration cut out completely like I could have my foot to the floor and it wouldn't do anything. Then all of a sudden it went back to normal driving fine .. Then cut out again it did this for a few times when I finally went to the side of the road and checked for Any loose engine connections etc.. A couple minutes went by and I tried starting the car and the battery was now dead .. So I bump started it (I have a standard) and the engine was running really bad all over the place and finally stalled out and now won't stay running has anybody encountered something similar ?? Thanks In advance

CEL on?? Sounds like it could be charging system (alt or battery or both) could also be another problem like MAf or coils. but if your battery was dead, I would start with the charging system. or if your CEL light is on, grab the codes.

Iv had similar problems, except mine only did if a few times and is now back to normal. If you have any codes pull them and check any pending codes. IVT solenoids will cause limp mode, but from what your describing you could be making a purchase for a MAF.

It sounds like your alternator has went out and you were running on basically battery alone till it finally stopped.

If you can charge your battery at your house and if a parts store is close your can limp it there to have then check the alternator out but i'm sure its gone.

Also with a alternator out it will give you all the symptoms your described since there not enough voltage to run alot of the engine electronics.
