To help with dash rattles and squeaks...
I just went to town on my 2003 Maxima SE to try to get rid of dash squeaks and rattles.
I took apart the area where the radio is. Just follow the directions in this video on how to take the radio out: and I used this felt tape I got from amazon:
JVCC FELT-06 Polyester Felt Tape (1mm thick felt): 1 in. x 75 ft. (Black): Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific
I also bought sheets of sticky back felt from a fabric store or Michael's craft store. After taking the radio out I put felt tape anywhere and everywhere I thought two pieces of plastic/metal would be touching. Under the dash clock, along the sides of the radio and switches and behind the air vents. Since I have an aftermarket stereo I wrapped the wires behind the stereo with electrical tape and placed a piece of foam between the wires and what I think was an air duct so they would hit together and make noise. I then took I took off the glove box and put felt tape all around. Again, if I thought two pieces of plastic/metal would be touching it got felt tape. I even lined the glove box inside with the sticky back felt paper so nothing would rattle inside. write ups to remove the glove box: http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...-write-up.html http://www.shiftice.com/cabin_filter.html It may be a little excessive but I think I've gotten rid of about 98% of the rattles that drove me crazy. Just have a good flashlight and look for anything and everything back behind the radio and glove box and cover it with felt. Just thought I'd pass this along. Sorry, I don't have any pics, I didn't think about until AFTER I was all done. EDIT: Also, tighten any screws around the dash. |
