Ac broke in the car, what's the damage?

Just hit 200k on the clock of my 2002 max. Started the car hit the ac and bam!!! Nothing, seems like the compressor failed but no blowing or anything.

Can I get a second hand compressor
Press or for cheap?

If the 2002 max is like a 2000 it's pretty cheap to replace.

if the refrigerant leaks out, there is a pressure sensor that won't allow the compressor to run. Have a shop check and see if all it is is low R134A refrigerant.

Which brings up the question, does the compressor run?

LOL. If the compressor failed, then you'd know it b/c the belt would be squealing and it'd burn up. There's a leak somewhere.

+1 on the leaks, check this video

Find the leak, replace the part and re-check.

The compressor on my 01 failed and what happened was a big bang and I discovered that the clutch locked to run the compressor and the internals had gone bad so the clutch blew right off the compressor shaft and the belt just kept turning the wheel of the compressor, but that shaft going into the compressor was seized up. I didn't buy a reman, but I put in a new Calsonic compressor. Still had what refrigerant was in there, plus refilled the system and all was well. Cost about 350 to replace.
