What tools are needed to install the bank 1 upstream sensor?
The bosch 13968 sensor. I have the o2 sensor tool but I can't get the proper position to take off the sensor, it's the one right in front of the firewall right behind the engine.

Spray it with aerokroil and disconnect the connector and your o2 socket with extension and swivel/knuckle should easily get it loose.
Bank 1 is the other side fyi. |

Yup. Sorry. Bank 1 is the pita side.

vice grips

Yea, it's a pita because it's angled in and it's behind the engine, I tried to get to it from the top and I can't position the O2 sensor tool around it properly so I stopped in fear of stripping the sensor.
I'm gonna try from underneath the car tomorrow. |

I could only get to my o2 in the rear manifold from the top with the manifold still bolted to the head... I think the o2 has to be out to remove that rear manifold though. If it won't turn at all, then you've got a major pitmfa. The o2 socket with the slit out of it should go on even if you have to tap it on with a hammer. I also antisiezed the threads when reinstalling. |
its a PITA to replace. I got a shop to break mine loose

I did mine from under the car, it was NOT fun. I used a combination of crowsfoot wrenches, along w/ a socket o2 wrench, and a big ole' hammer. But to make the job easier or not as much of a pita, is to have more than one length of o2 socket extension. It takes a lot of patience as well!
