So annoyed, radio/hvac stack screws were so tight we couldn't remove them.
 

My busy friend finally had time to install my blown hvac bulbs. The center stack side screws that hold the stack were so tight they were about to strip. We had to put humpty dumpty back together. My buddy said there is a tool at harbor freight that should remove them. Any one else deal w/ this?

I have. Soak them with a little WD-40 and then try to get them lose with solid screw driver. I broke a brand new Craftsman screw driver taking mine off.

The easiest way to remove those is to actually have a high quality high steel #2 bit and a lot of strength in your arms lol have your buddy hold the entire console tight while you are trying to remove the screws...

I correct my previous statement. The spray I used was PB blaster. The reason I used it because it is supposed to help get bolts and nuts loose. Yes, they became slippery after that, but I wiped everything and let it dry. Solid screw driver would be a high quality one, like Craftsman. Many of the cheap Harbor Freight ones just bend or brake. I played with this for 5-6 hours and could not get the screws off. After I sprayed it, it took me about 10 minutes to get them all off.

Use an impact gun with a #2 philips bit, worked for me

I've used a pozi bit to remove a stubborn screw. Or else I've read you can use a larger size bit, if you were using P1 switch to P2 with a rubber band. Press down very hard and turn very slowly. You just need to break the screw then you can try using pliers to turn the screw completely lose.
