Passenger Airbag Replacement

I was in a low speed ice/snowbank accident and the front airbags deployed. The SRS light is on solid and both front airbags deployed. I'd like to tackle replacement but I'm not sure what needs to be done besides the bags. Do i need to replace a control module or is it a simple swap and reset?

The front crash zone sensor looks fine by visual inspection and I've replaced the airbags but left them disconnected.

Can I use a SRS/ABS scan tool to reset the SRS module or is replacement required?

You must get the airbag control module reset. Generic scan tool or Nissan Consult will not do this. There are several companies advertising on the internet offering this service.

You could also get a new module or a good used unit that was not involved in an accident.

If the front crash zone sensor visually looks good, is replacement mandatory? Any way to test?

if crash zone sensor is not damaged, has not been hit, then leave it.

you'll have to replace/reset airbag module to clear the hard codes.
you will also need to replace front seat belts, they lock up when airbags deploy. you can also get these reset by sending them out to get rebuild with new parts.
