2002 Bose unit, steering wheel controls work, but head unit dead

Weird problem. The steering wheel controls work for the stereo but the head unit is dark and dead. Any ideas?

If the steering wheel controls work, the head unit can't be "dead". You probably have a bad display/control panel.

But it amounts to pretty much the same thing. It means you have to replace the head unit.

Does the radio actually play music? If it does then you just have a busted front control panel. You can find a cheap non working radio on Ebay and swap front panels to remedy the problem.
