Changing 5th generation engine
I have a 2000 maxima 3.0 and have never worked on anything the Che Che's made hahaha I'm a Chevy man and have pulled many motors and tranys and need to know how to pull this engine and trany. Some say from the top. Some from the bottom. Help a brother out. Thanks in advance

Pick one. Remove hood completely to remove from the top. It will clear on it's way out, it might take a little finessing and manipulation on the transmission side if I remember correctly.

Why would you ever need to pull a 3.0 (unless for serious mods)? This does not compute.
You sound very dangerous. |
^^^^ Indeed... this is not a chevy motor. Mine has almost 220K and I have no plans on removing it. There is a member here who has over 400K on his 2000 Maxima and guess what... still the original engine. I would say welcome to the world of engines which don't need replaced or resealed every time you do an oil change.

Clearly ....
I agree, my VQ30 is 19 years old and has 247k on it, runs as strong as it ever has. |
^^ Agreed. I swapped my 4th gen vq30 with a newer vq30 (110k miles)
But only because I got it in a trade deal. The old engine had 220k and was still running like a champ. In fact its still sitting in my shed |
Until the day the transmission went, my 3.0 was beat on. When the trans started slipping, I would drive at 5500RPM's to get around for the week before I got my i30. Almost ~560,000 Miles on the original tranny and engine.
