Can't find my year!
Just bought my wife an 03 Maxima. Check engine light was on, ran a diagnostic, found it to be the knock sensor. buy the part, go to install and find that the knock sensor harness has beem cut. cuss a little, get online to find one and all I can find is no newer than a 1999 model harness! does anyone know if this will fit the 03? or where I can find a knock sensor wiring harness for my year model? Any help would be invaluable!

When you say it was cut, is the whole harness missing?
|
The check engine light does not come on for the knock sensor. What other code(s) do you have?

Did you test drive the car before buying it?
Check with Courtesy Nissan to see if they can help you, give them a call. http://www.courtesyparts.com |
P0328 was the code. The harness is there just cut, literally. And it doesn't run bad , yet the check engine light didn't come on for a few weeks after I bought it, how is this possible with a cut Harness?? I removed the old sensor, but don't want to put in the new one until I get the harness. I have large hands and it was hard enough the first time.. Is it OK to drive like that?

Nor would you buy a car that doesn't have a knock sensor connected (that's not simmed). It would run like crap and be slow as ****.

I have never heard of a knock sensor before this car, all I have ever had are v8 trucks. Test drove, was peppy for the size engine, no warning lights on dash. Check engine light didn't come on until after a few weeks. That it still a mystery to me
http://boredmder.com/FSMs/Nissan/Maxima/2003/EC.pdf I spoke to courtesyparts 3 months ago about the availability of knock sensor harness for 2002-2003, unfortunately they are not selling it. The only way is to get it in the junkyard or classified section of the org. The knock sensor alone cost around $200.00 . |
If it indeed is damaged just sim it with a 500K resistor. The connector is right there next to block. Fold up the leads a bit and push it in, then tape it up. Use 93 octane in the summer and you won't have any problems. Or get it a junkyard if you can find an 02/03.
You should really inspect the area b/c this doesn't make any sense. |
