Leaking Driver's side axle to tranny seal
Hey all,
The driver's side seal is leaking and I'm gonna break down and do the job of replacing the seal on this side. While I'm at I decided that it's prob a good idea to replace the axle since it's the factory axle, although it has no issues. (117K miles) Since I have to pull out the axle anyway. Any tips to making this job easier? Never done one on this car. Also the parts guy at the auto store had to ask the other guy if the driver's side is considered the "output" side seal and he said yes. Is this accurate? |
get axles with the vibration dampener

If yours is manual, make sure you place bucket underneath the axle seal on the tranny side, otherwise tranny oil will be on the floor. While at it, change the tranny oil too with Red Line MT90.
George, is that an option to get vibration dampeners? I'm just going to my local auto part store and getting a new driver's side axle. |

Gotcha, thanks for taking the time to post pictures. Much appreciated!
Oh one more thing. How's the C-clip on these axles? does it come off rather easy? I know some of them can be a pain to get it to let that axle go. |
