Parking Brake Sticking

I know there is a problem with the rear calipers sticking but im curious if the parking brake has ever had this problem as well. I bought new calipers thinking that this was the problem but now i realize its the parking brake. Im curious as to if this was common at all. Im not tearing it apart now because its -9 right now.

The cable can be pinched by an impact or by jacking the car up wrong. If you disconnect both sides from the calipers you might feel one side slides easily while the other side binds up.

The cable has a metal crimp on piece right where it passes behind the rear jack point on either side. It's possible to crush that a little if you're not careful jacking the car. I did that to my wifes car and caused a similar problem. I pried it back open and it solved the problem but hers wasn't too bad.

BTW, I have a spare parking brake cable (both sides) if you end up needing it. I got it at the salvage yard to replace hers before realizing the real problem.

It's usually the brake caliper getting stuck and the uneven brake wear starts. The brake cable can be pinched and one side might work and the other won't. I would say for you to do is get the both brake cables checked and the calipers. The cable with and issue you would know because when the cable is applied the stiffness or the softness of the handbrake is gonna say it all.

I bet it's the parking brake cable....Undo the linkage from the calipers, spin the wheel, actuate the parking lever on the caliper by hand! Does it move it's full range? If so, drop the exhaust bpipe and remove your exhaust shields from the tunnel you'll see where the parking brake handle cable connect to the Tee that actuates te left and right systems detach there and move the cables individually by hand...They should slide very easy if not there's your problem...
