Ecu

on my 4 gen, i can access the engine codes with a screw that is on the open face of the ecu beside the gas pedal. I just looked at 5th generation, no screw?
How do you access codes, by hand / mechanically on the 5gen without using the plugin?

How to read the engine codes without a Nissan CONSULT or scan tool. (Set ECM in Diagnostic Test Mode II)

  • 1Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds.
  • 2Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds.
  • aFully depress the accelerator pedal.
  • bFully release the accelerator pedal.
  • 3Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the MIL starts blinking.
  • 4Fully release the accelerator pedal.
  • 5ECM has entered to Diagnostic Test Mode II (Self-diagnostic results).

Each code will be a series of four numbers. Count the flashes from one to 10, 10 being 0. This will be the first number, then there will be a short pause of around a half second and it will begin flashing the second number. After the fourth number is flashed there will be a longer pause and the computer will flash the next fault code, if there is more than one. If there is only one fault code it will simply keep repeating this code. If the computer keeps flashing a 10 code, this means that there are no fault codes.
Also known as the pedal dance. Might take a few tries to get the hang of it.
