Cat back system I found on amazon. Should I buy it or is there something better? http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IAZ99P4/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmr0_2?qid=1427063491&sr=8-2-fkmr0&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=2001+nissan+ maxima+catback+exhaust

A catback on this car is somewhat subjective. The system you're looking at hopefully bolts right on but with shipping and installation costs (assuming you have a third party install it) will run you a total of ~300 bucks. There's also an obx system which would probably run you about ~450 total. Megan racing catback would probably run you about ~600 after instal and BRM about ~700. These are all approximations based on cheapest order price and assumed shipping and installation costs. You could also look around for a local performance shop or muffler shop that will fabricate a custom exhaust for you. I found a place that was literally a mile and a half from me that installed stainless steel 2.5" piping, resonator deleted, with a performance flowmaster muffler (single 2.5" outlet) for 265 total. There are a lot of roads to take when selecting a catback system. It really comes down to budget, convienence, and sound preference. Good luck!

Here's a link to my car with the custom exhaust.

Agreed with ^^^^ I think a muffler and performance shop is the cheapest way to go. Another thing you can do is order any muffler that you want and take it to the shop and have them put it on for you with any size piping. I ordered a megan and had them run 2.5' straight all the way back deleting my CATs. Only paid $100 for there service.

Ok

I will try to find a shop then. Thanks for the information. So I can bypass the resonator and just have piping from the cat?

Both of the cars sound nice btw.

Yeah the resonator can be replaced with straight piping or a test pipe. And thanks man, I hope your search goes well
