Another one bites the dust
 

Hey guys. I dont post much on this forum but been a long time reader gaining knowledge ever since i feel in love with maximas back in the early 2000s. Anyways my beloved 2002 6speed was involved in a rear end collision. Sad to say it is totaled. Insurance said its $5700 in damage. Even though it doesnt look too bad. The car drives fine and still runs like a champ. The insurance valued my car at $6100 which is more then what i expected. I bought my max in 2012 for 5900 so im not complaining heh. Anyways i think ima give her up. I could keep her n get $5300 but i just dont know. I think its time to move on. Thanks everyone here on this forum for all the valued information. That's a great value for the car though...

That's sad to see.

But you might want to consider keeping the car and taking the money for 2 reasons.

If you really like the car, check with small, local body shops. You might get the car repaired for the insurance money or less.

Because tour car is a 6 speed, it is getting kind of rare. There are people still wanting to convert their automatics to manual. Sell them the whole car for $1500 - $2000.

sad to see that man, but if i were you, id keep the car, and like someone else said find someone to do the work at a reasonable price, and you still have money to buy another car. A shop once quoted me $3000 to repair a 91 chevy beretta gt 5-speed that had damage to driver side rear quarter panel/ bent frame ect. I found a local shop to do the job and i bought the parts for less than $600. Then you could still sell the car and make money off of it also.

Ya im still on the fence about it. I do love my car. I actually did get a quote from a local bodyshop not under my insurance and they quoted me 2500-3000. So it prob is possible to get it fixed for alot cheaper. That definitely is an option. Most of the damage is on the trunk and bumper. Ive looked underneath and everything looks fine. The exhaust is still intact. Car drives straight and no unusual noises. Just the trunk doesnt close. Had to tie it down.

But ya i love my car. Ive takened really good care of it. Doesnt burn a drop of oil. Just installed new clutch not too long ago. And bunch of other small mods and maintenance stuff.
